Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Mattiza
Hi Cynthia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started at the age of 24 in 2009. It was the worst recession where listings sat on the market for months, and no one was buying, especially not from a new agent who was new to the business and 24 year old. So to gain leads, I worked the “phone booth” to take incoming sign leads and I worked the leasing market pretty heavily. I took people out to view rentals all over town. I didn’t care where, I just was excited to have new clients. Soon after, some of those leads turned to buyers, and I started to build my network. Within 4 years, I became a top producing agent closing over $10-15M in sales, and continued to do so for years to come. I’ve always been a hard worker that grinds, that does come natural to me. But the best part of what I do is connecting people. Living in Austin can sometimes feel like a small town, and I love getting to connect others. Some people I’ve connected have become closest friends, and some have received job opportunities. What fuels me is making others feel valued.
I’ve built my career on my personal network and building a reputation of being trustworthy and honest with my clients is how I continue to grow.
My team members and I started The Eberly Group, where we focus on the Southwest, West market of Austin, the Hill country and Lake Travis + Dripping Springs area. We are deeply rooted in the community there, and love serving clients who yearn for that lifestyle.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well for starters, it was a blessing and a curse to start young. However, I wouldn’t have changed it any other way. I’m grateful that at 24 I had the hunger and the drive to work like an intern for basically 2 years until I built a network that was able to sustain itself with consistent business. The funny thing about real estate is that EVERY transaction can have its ups and its downs. There are so many factors to consider that I would hardly say it’s been a smooth road. In my 14 year career, I ‘ve had two children and a husband with a busy career. The biggest struggle and challenge nowadays is the work life balance that every working mother battles with.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m passionate about learning people’s stories and how to help connect them. When clients reach out for my professional help, it’s always an honor. In a city with thousands of realtors, I don’t take it lightly that they trusted me with this big transition in their lives or for one of their biggest investments.
I specialize in helping clients improve their lifestyle with matching homes that fit their individual needs. Finding the right home or selling their home for the next chapter and making the process easy and smooth is my ultimate priority. When working with a client, its my number one goal to make them feel like they are my only client. Personalize attention to detail, and open honest communication are key to my success.
I’m most proud of the reputation and the number of repeat clients I feel honored to serve. What sets me apart from many is my background in residential construction and design. Prior to becoming a REALTOR, I worked in a luxury kitchen and bath showroom and have extensive knowledge in residential construction. I feel that many of my clients lean on that expertise. But most of all, it’s my desire to give my clients the white glove experience when making this transition.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you are just starting out, I feel like social media has make it easier and harder at the same time.
Back in 2009, we did not have Instagram, and I believe Facebook was a completely different platform than in is now. Nowadays, I find that newer, younger agents are killing it with growing their following, but the number of followers doesn’t always necessarily translate to trust and clients hiring you for the job. But also, it makes it VERY easy to compare yourself with others.
The real estate industry and need for realtors has been around for ages. I think the good ol fashion days of open houses, and meeting people in person is truly the best way to truly create a meaningful connection, while building trust and rapport. I find that newer agents often times just want to jump to the top without having to do some of the real boots on the groundwork that it takes to build an established career. I will say that I’m in awe of some agents who have built careers around social media, It’s a work in progress for me.
I had an incredible mentor when I started, Lisa Ormsbee. She took me in, and make time in her busy career to teach me how to run my business. I’ll never forget the time I had my first “crisis” and calling her to have her help me break open a lockbox with a hammer. If I could give ONE piece of advice, it would be to find a mentor or join a team for individualized attention and resources to grow your business.
