Check Out Lydia Rhodes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Rhodes

Hi Lydia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I used to be obsessed with social media. My focus isn’t on marketing my creativity for a profit anymore. I work on art projects when I have downtime at my day job. I work for a suicide hotline 40+ hours a week. I wouldn’t be able to work a job like this if I didn’t have creative outlets. I stopped making art for other people and started making it for myself which ironically started making my social content blow up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m honestly at the point where the messy and fucked up things from my past doesn’t bother me anymore. You’d be surprised how often my experience with cyber bullying and cancel culture helps me uniquely empathize with people going through similar experiences.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wouldn’t say I specialize in anything anymore. I used to specialize in 3D character nail art and I still love doing it but I don’t have as much time for it anymore. I only use acrylic and it’s inconvenient for me to break it out while I’m working because my focus is on avoiding chemical exposure with my skin. I can pick up and put down acrylic paint easier so I use it the most these days. I blew up for customizing dragon ball figures but it’s not something I do everyday. Recently I’ve been getting into restoring vintage Monchhichi dolls or making a similar type of doll in the design of the bear character I like to draw.

What matters most to you? Why?
I would love to be able to get a nap on my days off with my 5 month old.
