Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Chandler.
Hi Edward, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Jackson, Mississippi, a place that taught me resilience, faith, and hustle. Growing up, I faced a lot of challenges, from being surrounded by poverty and violence to figuring out how to rewrite my own story. After graduating from Jackson State University, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Austin, Texas. I didn’t have much; in fact, I stayed in a hotel off Braker and I-35 for a month with no car, just determination and a belief that I could make something out of nothing.
I started my career working dead-end jobs, but I always knew I had a gift for sales and connecting with people. That drive eventually led me to the corporate world, where I grew from the bottom into leadership, and today I serve as the Director of Sales for a nonprofit making an impact in the community.
Along the way, I also stepped into real estate and found my passion for helping families build generational wealth. I now own multiple properties back home in Jackson, Mississippi, and I’m proud to be a multi-million dollar agent with Homes With Hall Realty here in Austin. In my very first year in real estate, I closed over $4 million in sales while earning a six-figure income from my corporate career.
This journey has been about faith, consistency, and never settling. My goal for next year is $10 million in volume, and I’m building my brand to make that happen. I’ve learned that when you lead with values, work ethic, and purpose, doors open that once seemed impossible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. If anybody tells you it was for them, they’re probably not telling the full story. My journey’s been filled with ups and downs, but every part of it has shaped who I am today.
About nine years ago, my son came to live with me, and that changed everything. It gave me a whole new reason to push harder. I couldn’t afford to fail, not with him watching me. I had to figure it out, even when I didn’t have all the answers.
Then in 2020, I got furloughed during COVID and had to get on unemployment just to keep things going. That was humbling, but it also built character. It forced me to really rely on faith and keep grinding even when things didn’t make sense.
Fast forward to August of last year, I took my real estate exam and failed it the first time. Man, that one hurt. I remember crying because I wanted it so bad. But that moment lit a fire in me. I studied harder, stayed focused, and came back stronger.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth at all, but it’s been worth it. Things aren’t perfect now, but they’re a lot better than they used to be. I’m a man of faith, and I know every setback was just setting me up for the next level.
As you know, we’re big fans of EdTheeRealtor . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Right now, my business is real estate, real estate, real estate — jokingly, but honestly, it’s my world. I’m a licensed agent with Homes With Hall Realty here in Austin, Texas, and I specialize in helping families find stability and opportunity through homeownership, whether it’s buying luxury, needing down payment assistance, or even credit rehabilitation. I’m a problem solver, and I take pride in finding solutions for people no matter what their situation looks like.
But I don’t just sell real estate, I also own it. I’ve built a small portfolio of properties back home in Jackson, Mississippi, and that’s something I take a lot of pride in because it’s proof that I practice what I preach.
Outside of real estate, I’m also the Director of Sales for a nonprofit where I get to use my leadership skills to make an impact every day. Balancing both worlds isn’t easy, but it’s what makes my brand unique. I’m not one-dimensional. I’m a father, an investor, a leader, and a man who’s not afraid to take risks to prosper.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that I’m doing exactly what I want to do. In this industry, around 75% of new agents never sell a home within their first year, and I’m proud to say I’m not one of them. My brand is built on faith, work ethic, and authenticity. “EdTheeRealtor” represents someone who truly does it all, someone who’s constantly working, constantly learning, and always betting on himself.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know that I’m more than a realtor. I’m proof that when you stay consistent, stay grounded, and stay hungry, you can create the life you’ve always envisioned, no matter where you start.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family. I have a wife and three incredible kids (all boys), and my boys are my world. Raising men in this world isn’t easy, especially as African American men, and being their father, their guide and protector, is everything to me.
I lost my dad in the seventh grade to gun violence, and that absence still affects me every day. I felt that void growing up, and I don’t want my sons to feel the same. Everything I do, every choice I make, is about showing up for them, giving them opportunities, and making sure they know they are loved, supported, and prepared for the world ahead. Being a father to them isn’t just important, it’s my purpose.
