Today we’d like to introduce you to Xena Hernandez.
Hi Xena, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After attending LSU for radiology, I moved back to Austin 5 years ago and knew I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty and wellness industry. I have always had a passion for servicing others in a way that makes them feel good and beautiful internally and externally. I went to Avenue Five institute for cosmetology and the business courses they offered because I knew my end goal was to go the entrepreneur route and start my own brand/business that I was proud of. While in school, I worked side fashion and fitness modeling gigs which helped me get my foot in the door in the industry and network with amazing individuals who have helped support my business and growth.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey could be smoother. If I ever feel like this is smooth sailing, I know I’m too comfortable, and something needs to grow. The beauty industry is so saturated, so it’s important to keep up with education and modern trends continuously. Client retention is important, and your clientele is constantly up and down with life factors. However, I’m extremely grateful for the obstacles I had to overcome to be in this current moment.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an independent artist and own my own small hair business where I do specialty hair services. I specialize in blondes, color, and extension installations. I am also a traveling artist/ bridal updo guru for weddings. I am most proud of the detailed work that I put into each client, which makes my clients feel special and creates a more personal bond between these appointments. I’m also proud that I’ve been able to be a part of these women’s special day, providing them with a service that makes them feel great about themselves on a day they will cherish for a lifetime. that mark is so huge to me.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Networking is so important and appreciated in this industry. Community and connection is the greatest way to support business and builds client relationships. Social media is the best way to collab or support. Instagram: xenadez_styles or xena_dez
