Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Bertamini
Hi Tessa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I found Amore Austin, Austin’s first date and proposal planning company, in May 2020. The idea for Amore Austin was born out of my passion for event planning, my high expectations for dates, and my desire to help people solve a problem. I got my first taste of event planning from my mom, although she probably doesn’t know that! As a kid growing up in Australia, I remember her planning and hosting events of all sizes – from small birthday parties for my brothers and me to large, corporate events for my dad. I got involved with event planning as a teenager in Singapore and continued to work within the event planning industry after college. From wedding planning in Singapore, to corporate events for large national brands in Miami, to charity events for an animal shelter in Chicago, to health and wellness events in Austin, it’s safe to say I tried A LOT. But despite the experience and skills I was gaining, I felt frustrated because I still didn’t know what I wanted to do. But then it dawned on me – I could combine my event planning expertise to bridge the gap between women’s high expectations for romantic gestures and the reality of the romantic gestures they experienced. So, I founded Amore Austin! Amore Austin makes creating unforgettable romantic experiences easy with A to Z event planning services. Every aspect of our process is personal and that’s why I think we’re successful! We invest time into getting to know our clients, what they’re looking for, and from there, we design and execute custom proposals and personalized dates.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to launching and now operating Amore Austin hasn’t always been smooth, but I’ve grown to truly appreciate obstacles and see them as opportunities for innovation. When I first started Amore Austin, I often struggled with trying to do too many things at once. I thought I had to do EVERYTHING on my own. But I soon realized that asking for help is necessary in order to do what I do best – which is plan unforgettable romantic experiences! Now, I have three incredibly talented women on the Amore Austin team: Savannah, our social media manager, Franki, our graphic designer and copywriter, and Jessi, our administrative assistant. Currently, we are working towards making Amore Austin well-known within the Austin area, which is a challenge in itself – not only is Amore Austin still a fairly new business, but the concept of date and proposal planning is still quite new as well!
As you know, we’re big fans of Amore Austin. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Amore Austin is a full-service romantic event planner that specializes in custom proposals and personalized dates. We are on a mission to make enjoying personal, one-of-a-kind experiences easy for couples – by doing the planning for them. When it comes to service specifics, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for clients. From location scouting and booking vendors to set-up and clean-up, we take care of all the nitty, gritty details so that our clients can focus on what matters most – the person they love! For our date clients, we offer one-time date planning, monthly date planning, and special occasion date planning. Our date planning services are becoming increasingly popular with couples in long-term relationships. Between work and the demands of daily life, it can be challenging for couples to find time to plan anything “new” to do together – but that’s where we come in! Whether our clients know exactly what they want to do or they haven’t a clue, Amore Austin is able to help transform dreams into a reality.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When it comes to networking, my best piece of advice is to reach out to people you admire, would like to work with, or just want to “talk shop” with. Sometimes it feels a little uncomfortable to ask someone you don’t know if they’d like to hop on a quick phone call to learn more about one another. But every time I’ve done this, I’ve never had a bad experience. Even if it doesn’t make sense to work together, there is always an opportunity to learn something new, gain a new perspective, or just bounce ideas off a like-minded individual!
