Life & Work with Eric Blossman of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Blossman.

Hi Eric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Eric Blossman, and I have built my career around two passions that have shaped who I am — leadership and creativity. Professionally, I have spent decades in mortgage banking, leading large teams, mentoring professionals, helping families achieve homeownership, and helping grow organizations into high-performing operations. Alongside that career, I never let go of music. What started as a passion grew into a second career as an ASCAP songwriter, producer, arranger, and composer with more than 250 licensed songs and placements across major television networks and streaming platforms including Netflix, MTV, VH1, Bravo, NBC, ABC, BET, FX, Paramount, Discovery, Animal Planet, PBS, CNBC, and History Channel, with music featured in shows like Teen Mom, Catfish, Impractical Jokers, Love & Hip Hop Miami, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked. I have been fortunate to earn recognition through songwriting competitions and industry organizations, including NSAI recognition, national songwriting awards, and finalist honors through major songwriting competitions, while continuing to build relationships in both the sync and artist communities. Earlier in life, I also worked as a touring keyboard player and had opportunities to perform alongside legendary artists including Diana Ross and Ike Turner, experiences that strengthened my appreciation for hard work, preparation, and persistence. Building two careers at once has required long hours, resilience, and a willingness to keep learning, but it has taught me that success is rarely about taking one perfect path — it comes from consistently investing in what matters to you, improving your craft, and refusing to let passion become something you leave behind.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all. Both industries I’ve built my career in have come with their own challenges and required resilience in very different ways. The mortgage business can be incredibly rewarding, but it is also an industry heavily influenced by market swings, interest rates, and economic uncertainty. There are periods of growth and momentum, and there are periods where you have to navigate difficult market conditions, make tough decisions, and continue leading people through uncertainty while staying focused on long-term success. On the music side, one of the biggest lessons has been learning to develop very thick skin. Songwriting and the entertainment business come with far more “no’s” than “yes’s.” You can spend countless hours creating something you believe in only to face rejection, criticism, or simply no response at all. (Otherwise known as the “Nashville No” )Success rarely happens overnight, and persistence becomes just as important as talent. Both careers have taught me that growth often comes through adversity, and some of the most valuable lessons come during the difficult seasons rather than the easy ones.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Music has always been more than a hobby for me — it has been a lifelong passion that evolved into a second career through persistence, constant learning, and refusing to quit. I specialize in songwriting, production, arranging, and composing, with a strong focus on both sync licensing and writing songs for artists. Over the years, I have built a catalog of more than 250 licensed songs and earned placements across major television networks and streaming platforms including Netflix, NBC, MTV, BET, FX, Bravo, Discovery, VH1, Paramount, PBS, CNBC, and History Channel. My music has appeared in shows including Teen Mom, Catfish, Impractical Jokers, Love & Hip Hop Miami, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked. I have also been fortunate to earn recognition through organizations like NSAI and major songwriting competitions while continuing to build relationships throughout the music industry. Earlier in my musical journey, I performed as a keyboard player alongside legendary artists including Diana Ross and Ike Turner, experiences that shaped both my musicianship and professionalism. What I am most proud of is not simply placements or recognition, but building something meaningful through consistency and perseverance. Music is a business that comes with constant rejection, and success often requires hearing “no” many times before hearing “yes.” I think what sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity with persistence — continuing to improve, adapt, and grow while never losing sight of why I started making music in the first place.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that life really is a journey, and there are very few shortcuts worth taking. Whether in business or music, I’ve found that hard work, consistency, and persistence still matter. There were plenty of moments where progress felt slow or opportunities didn’t come as quickly as I hoped, but over time I realized there is no mystery formula — you keep showing up, keep improving, keep learning, and eventually those small efforts compound into something meaningful. Success rarely happens overnight, and many of the biggest opportunities come after years of preparation that nobody else sees. I’ve learned to appreciate the process, stay patient during difficult seasons, and trust that if you continue putting in the work, good things have a way of finding you.
