Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Pintell.
Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and then grew up in a very small town in Ohio. I recently moved back to Texas in the Houston area but I travel all over Texas and I am a content creator that shares unique places to travel on Instagram and TikTok.
Growing up in a small town, I would love to just drive around all the time and find new things to do. I guess that has inspired the way I look at things when I travel to new places. I get excited about finding what that place is known for or finding places that really make it unique.
Moving to an entirely new state, I wanted to figure out how I can share my new experiences with others. I also have always been very creative and I love to share fashion that inspires others as well. That is what inspired me to start being a content creator and blogger. I always enjoy finding new places to go eat or explore and I love being able to support local businesses while doing what I love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I face as a content creator are other people’s opinions and the platforms themselves. Starting out, I only had a small following and it was hard to come out of my comfort zone and start sharing these things as a creator and not as just my personal account. Along with going out of my comfort zone, the platforms have been a challenge to figure out. There is so much that goes into creating content that a lot of people don’t realize and it really is a full-time job being a creator. It would get frustrating at times when I was putting all of this time into creating content for it to not be seen on Instagram, and a lot of times the hashtags wouldn’t show my posts to anyone and reach would be low. But the important thing is to just keep creating and keep putting yourself out there because if I can just inspire one person, then that is what really matters. I’m creating to share new places with people and support those local businesses, as well as to inspire others to travel or try something new or give fashion advice. That is what is really important to me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been interested in all types of art and creativity since I was little. I went to college and graduated in 2019 with a bachelor’s in Graphic Design and a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. I have been painting since I was young and doing photography for years as just a hobby. So for me, it isn’t just one type of artwork that I’m interested in. From painting, graphic design, photography, sewing, videography, and more, I love being creative any way that I can. I realized that I wanted to make that my career somehow and it was a big part of who I am.
That’s why I am a content creator now so I can be creative in videography, photography, and fashion while supporting businesses and inspiring others. I’m most known for my TikTok videos @magnoliamegan on the different places I travel to in Texas and other areas of the US. I have featured a variety of places such as the Tau Ceti mural in Austin, Waterwall Park in Houston, featuring small towns in Texas, lots of local restaurants in Austin and Houston, and I plan on going to more places in Texas to continue traveling. I love being able to create a concept for a new video and see it come together.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
There has been a steady growth in my platforms as a creator, so I see it to continue to grow and hopefully keep traveling to more places and sharing more fashion ideas as well. Content creators are becoming a huge part of the growth in businesses and it’s really exciting to see that happen and be a part of that growing industry.
