Meet Nicole Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Lee.

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
LEARNLEE was bred from creative problem-solving! How could I continue teaching students during the pandemic yet drastically cut the exposure down for my family? After many conversations about our future, I decided to resign from the classroom. After 13 years of full-time elementary school teaching in Missouri, Colorado and Texas, I had to make a decision during extenuating circumstances- COVID 19. Stay home with my daughter for her last year before Kindergarten or put us both back into classrooms and hope for the best!

Well, staying home was the decision. But I’ve never been a stay-at-home Mom. So, maybe a stay-at-home and work-from-home Mom was an option. Thus, I began tutoring online! However, one more option to consider. Do I want to “work” for someone else (a.k.a large tutoring agencies) or do I want to build my own? The best thing about moving to Austin almost four years ago was the ever-present surrounding of entrepreneurship! So, the answer was simple. Build my own. With my one-year anniversary of LEARNLEE, I have impacted more than 25 instructors by giving them a workplace of autonomy, flexibility and compassionate leadership! Over 250 families have expressed interest in what I’m doing and continue to trust my guidance as an experienced educator who builds relationships with the world’s best instructors who believe in our mission of guided growth. We lift you up!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every business will have obstacles and challenges, especially within the first few years. One obstacle is helping others realize the magic that happens with virtual instruction! Benefits for parents include No driving, waiting, worrying about getting back in time, infecting one another with sneezes or coughs, you get to witness what’s happening and evaluate the worth of what you’re investing financially, and the list goes on!

With the pandemic crisis-teaching, online education may have gotten a bad reputation. However, those are the worst-case scenarios where students are not seen, heard and valued. Imagine leading a team of 20+ children from a screen. It’s hard enough with the non-stop needs while face to face, but now you have added obstacles and challenges through the screen. But LEARNLEE tutoring is not like public school or private school, and certainly not crisis-teaching. We have wrap-around support that emphasizes strong communication and flexibility. Getting to build relationships with the whole family, we strive to meet your desired outcomes in a private or small group setting. Your plan is custom, premium, and tailored to your exact specifications.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the “Lee” of LEARNLEE. My company was bred from the desire to continue my career in education throughout the pandemic, all while protecting my number one priority: my family. Utilizing my years of experience, entrepreneurial spirit and desire to positively impact the world, I started my own business! LEARNLEE is a diverse and inclusive environment where students are matched with tutors in both academics and electives. Upon your complimentary consultation, I can confidently recommend a member of the LEARNLEE team to help you thrive! We reach children and adults in either private or small group settings, online or in-person, depending on location and availability. You can find current classes on www.LEARNLEE.com. I urge you to spend time looking through all of the tabs to meet our instructors and watch real-world videos of their instruction!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is positively impacting the world. We want your family to thrive, and sometimes parents need help making that happen. Please know that you can trust us to have your best interest in mind. Communication and instruction will be stellar, and if it’s less than stellar, we adapt! The last thing that we want to do is cause a problem or force-fit what we do. We’re not here to change your mind about online learning, but, we would love for you to give us a chance as we dive back into our busy lives. Online tutoring is a great solution to your educational needs!
