I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has definitely not been a smooth one but I am grateful as my obstacles have become my testimony. I have been privileged to pursue and live my passions for twenty years while building my brand Urban Grind TV. Any entrepreneur that says it’s been easy is lying or did not aim him enough in their field. Your dreams need to be so big that they scare you. Your dreams always need to be bigger than your fears because only one can win. You can only serve one master, your dreams or your fears. That’s the recipe for progress you either commit to fear or to success. You are going to commit to something regardless, you might as well make it something that is going to better you. Most things that people fear never happen anyways so go for it. My grandfather Smokey used to say “Do Something Even If It’s Wrong”. That can be interpreted different ways but I took it has even if you’re not ready, even if you don’t know what you’re doing, go for it. You will figure it out, most people will not even bother to try. So that already sets you ahead of the pack. The next level is to not quit, never give up on your dreams. Every day is a new opportunity to be better than yesterday and never compare your situation with anyone else’s. Theodore Roosevelt said that “Comparison Is the Thief of Joy”. Just understand that your journey is unique and is built for you. I am a disabled veteran who served on active duty and suffered two traumatic brain injuries while on a training mission. I died three times before the medi-vac helicopter got me to the hospital before the age of 20 years old. I can say that to everything else that I have encountered since then is no comparison. If I can stare death in the face and survive nothing else is going to stop me now. There is nothing particularly special about me or my story, I just understand that my purpose is bigger than myself. I have learned to walk in that purpose daily, by serving creatives we help spread love and in turn heal the world one person at a time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when my mother bought me a used record player from the flea market around 1991 or 1992. I still don’t why she bought it for me we did not own any records, except the one record that came with it. That was Public Enemy’s Fight the Power, to be fair my mother had no idea about Hip-Hop or who Public Enemy was. This childhood memory is unique because it was the first record I ever owned let alone my first Hip-Hop record. Considering I have spent the last two decades in service to the culture, I would say that memory had a profound effect on me and I am honored to say that today I am a Certified Scholar & Teacher in Hip-Hop and a member of the Hip-Hop Heritage Foundation Hall of Fame. I was inducted alongside Twista & Bushwick Bill in 2021. Thank You Mama!
