Rising Stars: Meet Hailey Marquez of Hailey Snaps Pics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Marquez.

Hi Hailey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Photography started as a creative outlet for me, but over time it became so much more than that. What began with simply picking up a camera and capturing moments for my sister and family slowly grew into a passion for storytelling and preserving genuine emotion. I fell in love with documenting the in-between moments, the quiet glances, the laughter, the chaos, and the beauty that often goes unnoticed.

As my business grew, so did I. Becoming a mother shifted my perspective on life and on photography itself. It taught me the importance of slowing down, being present, and truly valuing the fleeting moments that make up our stories. That mindset heavily influences the way I approach my work today. I want the people I photograph to feel something when they look back at their images years from now.

Over the years, I’ve continued to evolve creatively and personally. I’ve built a studio from the ground up, expanded into documenting weddings, motherhood, families, and lifestyle sessions, and focused on creating an experience that feels authentic and meaningful for my clients. My style has become very storytelling-driven with a mix of documentary emotion with intentional artistry.

Today, I’m in a season of building a life that prioritizes both creativity and family. Alongside photography, I’ve also begun pursuing other creative ventures, which has reminded me how important it is to create a life and career that align with who you are becoming. At the heart of everything I do is connection, telling stories honestly, preserving memories, and creating work that feels timeless and real.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was balancing a full-time job while also trying to build my business and still be fully present for my family. There were many seasons where I felt stretched thin working long hours, coming home to edit late into the night, answering client messages in between everyday life, and constantly feeling like there were not enough hours in the day.

As passionate as I was about photography, it was difficult knowing I couldn’t always give my business the full energy and creativity I wanted to because I was trying to juggle so many responsibilities at once. Burnout, self-doubt, and learning how to manage the emotional side of running a business were all very real challenges for me. There were moments where I questioned whether I could truly make it work.

At the same time, those struggles shaped me into the person and business owner I am today. They taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of creating a life that aligns with my values. Becoming a mother especially changed my perspective and pushed me to reevaluate what success looked like for me. I realized I wanted to build something meaningful, not just financially, but creatively and personally as well.

I think one of the hardest parts of being a creative entrepreneur is that people often only see the final images or the highlights online, but behind the scenes there are sacrifices, long nights, uncertainty, and a lot of perseverance. Even through those obstacles, I’ve continued to grow, evolve, and stay connected to why I started in the first place: preserving meaningful stories and creating something people can truly feel.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a lifestyle and documentary photographer who specializes in capturing genuine, emotion-driven moments. My work focuses heavily on weddings, motherhood, families, and storytelling sessions that feel authentic rather than overly posed. I’ve always been drawn to the moments in between like the quiet interactions, movement, emotion, and details that often become the most meaningful memories over time.

What I’m most proud of is building my business from the ground up while balancing full-time work, motherhood, and everyday life. Every milestone has been built through consistency, passion, and a genuine love for connecting with people. Over time, my work has evolved into something much deeper than simply taking photos, it’s about preserving stories and creating an experience where people feel comfortable enough to truly be themselves.

I think what sets me apart is the way I approach every session I capture. I want my images to feel lived in and emotional, not just visually beautiful. I focus on creating a space where clients feel seen, understood, and comfortable, because that’s where the real moments happen. My style blends documentary emotion with intentional artistry, and I care just as much about the feeling behind an image as I do the final result itself.

I’m also proud of the way I’ve continued evolving creatively. From building my own studio space to expanding into creative ventures beyond photography, I’ve learned to embrace growth and trust my vision even when the path felt uncertain. At the core of everything I create is connection, authenticity, and preserving moments that people will carry with them for years to come.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that mentorship and networking do not always happen in the traditional sense. Sometimes a mentor is someone you admire from afar, someone whose work inspires you, or someone who offers guidance through small conversations over time rather than one formal relationship.

What has worked best for me is building genuine connections instead of focusing only on “networking.” I’ve found that being kind, supportive of other creatives, and showing up authentically opens far more doors than trying to compete with others. Some of the most valuable relationships I’ve built started simply through conversations, collaborating on projects, second shooting weddings, or supporting one another online.

I also think it’s important to not be afraid to ask questions or put yourself out there, even when it feels uncomfortable. Growth often comes from stepping into spaces where you feel inexperienced and being willing to learn. At the same time, I’ve learned that not every piece of advice will align with your vision, and that’s okay. Mentorship is valuable, but learning to trust your own creative instincts is just as important.
