Small Business of the Day: Conversations with Barbara “Basia” Marynowski of Basia’s Pickles

Today’s Small Business of the Day features an interview with Barbara “Basia” Marynowski. Please find our conversation below.

We’re so inspired by the hard work and creativity of the small businesses that serve as the engines of our communities. Thank you so much for taking the risk and doing what you do. Before we go any further we’d love for you to tell our readers a bit about Basia’s Pickles.
I am the Creator and Founder of Basia’s Pickles, a gourmet pickle company with a focus on bringing joy to others through delicious eats that are made with love. We have the best fans in the world and besides our unique flavors (like our best-selling Texas Heat), our pickles are loved because they are made in Texas, contain no artificial colors or flavors, and also help support feeding our neighbors through charities like the Central Texas Food Bank.

Are there some clients who are your brand’s MVP’s – give them a shoutout and tell us about the impact they’ve had on your brand
HEB is definitely an MVP! I can’t say enough good things about them and how supportive they’ve been and continue to be. They are the reason I turned the pickles I used to make in my kitchen as a gift for friends and family into a real business. A friend of mine encouraged me to enter their Quest for Texas Best contest in 2017, which prompted me to do all the formal business filings like LLC, barcodes, logo, etc., in order to be prepared to sell my products. It wasn’t until I re-entered the contest in 2019 that Basia’s was honored with being a Finalist and 2022 when we made our grand debut on HEB shelves! Patience and persistence really is key sometimes. Throughout the whole process, HEB was supportive and a wealth of knowledge to help our brand develop. Most recently, they expanded us to 70 more stores, for a total of 188 now!
