Check Out David Garza’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Garza.

Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Even I don’t know what my stories are about, the whole thing still being written. I honestly don’t even know when or how I got started, with what? My art? My brand? Just basic life? I guess I’m an artist. To be completely honest I’m just painting whats in my head and even then I’m not that good – if anything it’s just a hobby that turned into a really expensive hobby, without a teacher or tutor kinda just started drawing one day and a friend asked me to draw him a tattoo he wanted and then threw me a couple of bucks, went from doing that to painting these big ass canvases and murals. Don’t know how or why or when but it’s fun to remind to treat life like an art piece and appreciate the smallest details even if I forget sometimes. Also reminds me to slow down and appreciate the day as long as ya pay ya rent and your bills who cares what you do – be your own boss. Art aside though, I’m just like any other 23 years old dude just making sure I pay rent.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Mines more like a dirt road, with potholes every 10 feet and I’m driving a unicycle. Everyone has em, everyone’s different if anything portraying those through art helped create not only a world for me but an escape from said struggles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist who became an artist because he tried a bunch of different things until something stuck. I started with tattoo designs which led to canvases, which then led to murals and graphic design which then led to creating a brand for myself and my art. Specializing in acrylic contemporary pop art alongside ink art, I became proud of all my pieces mostly because half if not every time I’d start a piece saying “tf is this s***” and then like by the end of it, I’m like blown away – then for most of them I barely even remember painting them I just kinda go at it. What sets me apart from others? I honestly have no idea, I barely know what’s going on myself I’m just taking life day by day.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Mostly just self-reflection, maybe every now and again I’ll watch a movie where I end up wanting superpowers or something or think of a cool piece to make.
