Hi Heaven, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi Voyage! Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story! My name is Heaven Fearn, I’m an actress, model, and digital creator. I’ve been a performer all my life. At a young age, I learned to sing, dance, and play multiple instruments. These early experiences helped to foster my love for the arts and I naturally transitioned to acting and modeling. Both allow me to challenge and express my creativity by becoming someone different with each new project. Over the years, I’ve worked with many notable photographers, producers, and directors from the East to the West coast.
A special kind of thrill comes from planning and dressing up for a unique event. I have always loved fashion and looked for ways to express myself through a range of styles. I have a particular passion for vintage clothing and enjoy getting lost in some of the amazing local boutiques we have around town. The discrepancy in affordable and sustainable clothing has recently led me to the creation of my own brand. Travel has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have three passports and spent most of my childhood growing up overseas. I started my blog as a digital journal to help me never forget some of the amazing places I’ve been or things I’ve done. I also wanted to give the insane amount of photos I take a designated home. Eventually, it grew into an opportunity to share my life experiences and encourage others to try new things. My social platforms and website provide first-person insight into travel, lifestyle, music, and entertainment trends. I create and edit my own content as well as look for ways to promote and collaborate with other artists and brands.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely been met with challenges along the way. This industry is saturated with would-be “influencers” and many creators don’t truly use or support the products they are offering. The experiences they share are often very transactional and only incorporate a simple one-off post or story with a promo code. My process is quite different from this. I research and truly want to know the brands or artists who I’m working with. This is important so I can create content that is authentic and appeals to the audience they are looking for. Through this process, individuals are immersed in real-world experiences alongside the products, brands, or artists. This leads to powerful campaigns and engagement but often means being more selective about opportunities that align with my goals or values.
When quoting a project I am sometimes met with resistance by individuals who do not understand this industry or the value of what I am offering. They lack the experience and/or knowledge to construct strong online campaigns and belittle the work involved or draw inaccurate comparisons to others in the field. For example, most social creators focus on only one specific market such as travel, fashion, or lifestyle. It’s rare for someone to have expertise in all these areas as well as music and entertainment which they can effectively leverage.
Discrimination has also been a factor as more brands look to “diversify.” They often reach out and want to use my face, name, or content to sell their products but don’t respect me as an artist or collaborator enough to pay me appropriately for my time and effort. Knowing my worth and not selling myself short has been key in these instances.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a passionate content creator with over 15 years of digital marketing experience! It has long been my goal to help brands and artists see the value of this industry as it plays a pivotal role in supporting every facet of a business. In addition to managing my own digital portfolio and public relations, I also consult and partner with many influential marketing agencies and brands.
Today’s consumers are looking for more authenticity in the digital world. With a never-ending stream of content and ads, it can be hard to know who to trust or what’s real. My objective is to open the door for increased engagement across new social channels and verticals by using social emersion and cross promotion. These highly targeted campaigns drive consumer engagement towards products, artists, and experiences that are researched and personally vetted. Individuals can watch social Highlights of events, with guides on travel, what to wear, eat, watch, listen to, and shop for all in real-time.
My expertise in content creation lies in my ability to combine key passions for style, entertainment, and digital marketing into one-of-kind social campaigns. With my diverse background, I’m uniquely positioned for success.
What makes you happy?
I’m truly happiest capturing good vibes on the dance floor! What brings me added joy is building strong communities where art and talent can thrive. I’m focused on expanding my platform to address the discrepancies in minority representation among women and BIPOC who are artists or entrepreneurs. It’s critical now more than ever that we use our voices and platforms to spread awareness. We can also show our support by redirecting our engagement and spending power. Only by coming together can we build authentic growth creating a more inclusive and beautiful digital space.
