Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Miller.
Hi Anastasia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have a BFA in Studio Art from UT Austin, where I studied painting and drawing. My first job out of school was as a wedding/event coordinator for a busy makeup studio. After learning about the industry and developing my skills as a makeup artist for three years, I decided to start my own wedding business, Anastasia MUA Pro Hair + Makeup Team.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I love being my own boss now, but in the beginning, it was hard! It requires an exceptional amount of faith in yourself and the willingness to work hard on things that won’t fully come to fruition for years. That being said, starting my own business was the best thing I’ve done so far in my life. If you want to start a business, my advice is to go for it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in natural makeup! The majority of our bridal clients do not wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis and want to look like the most beautiful version of themselves without feeling overdone.
Our approach to bridal beauty is minimalistic, fresh and designed to look amazing in person, in photos and on HD video. My makeup application puts an emphasis on natural, flawless foundation and soft-focus blending. I use a minimalistic approach to create balance and enhance facial symmetry. My professional hair artists have an eye for aesthetics and the artistic skill to create anything from a classic bridal updo to Pinterest boho to romantic beachy waves.
I also do hair and makeup for commercial, editorial and beauty shoots and have worked with Ferrari, Coca Cola Mexico, Loeffler and Randall, and more!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Some clients already know this, but I also do quite a bit of freelance modeling work in Austin!
