Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Vallejo.
Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
One of the things I’ve learned along my journey is that my major focus, not just on my life, but in my career, was to help people by utilizing my creativity. After the birth of my daughter, I knew that I could do this by learning how to code and build websites while developing material for social media marketing/small business websites along the way. I also started sharing my experiences through online writing, which brought the attention of major brands wanting me to work and write for them. I started to see my business slowly grow, and was very proud. Then, because of my unforeseen decline in my relationship with my then- husband, and subsequent divorce, I put my newly found business and creative writing on hold and went back into the workforce, working for a web hosting company. I had to support my daughter, and needed something secure to pay the bills. Still, I helped out with various social media projects on the side, still staying true to my craft. It was one day, when I was unfortunately let go from my job in escrow that I decided to stop pouring my heart and soul into companies that didn’t really care about me or my hard work. I jumped headfirst into starting my digital marketing agency. Now that my daughter is 12, I feel very fulfilled in all aspects of my career, and have never looked back.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, it wasn’t easy. I was definitely scared at the prospect of being self-employed. I wasn’t sure if I had what it took to hold my own in such a competitive market. I worked on my business every moment I was awake, while driving for Lyft after I was let go to make ends meet. I drove 12-14 hours most days, yet still learning as much as I could to expand my skills in marketing and advertising when I wasn’t driving. Then, in 2019 I mustered enough courage to dive in full time in my business. Yes, I was very nervous about not being able to compete, but I knew that this was my passion. My desire to help businesses and to be a positive role model for my daughter was what drove me to keep moving forward, leaning into this major risk I was undertaking. Looking back now, if there is one regret, I do wish I had more faith in myself when I first started my company, but things work out the way they do, and now here I am, stronger than ever, pursuing what I’ve always loved.

Helping business flourish. It’s been remarkable watching clients go from a fledgling, naive company, just like when I started, to scaling consistently for growth, while outlining plans to hire new personnel or expanding to open new locations. Knowing that I was a part of that development brings great joy to me.
