Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Pereyra.
Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been working in various industries (retail, finance, grocery, food service) since I was 15 and have held management roles since I was 17. This sparked my passion for people leadership and good operations – even if I didn’t fully realize it at the time. I started freelancing in January of 2020 and when the pandemic started, I got way more serious in building a business and a brand – not just freelancing. As of October 1, 2020, I have been full-time in my business and have grown an operations agency and consultancy that supports mission-driven organizations and small businesses to scale sustainably.
My time in the financial services industry both in subprime lending and investments/wealth management gave me considerable insight into the problematic systems designed to keep people where they are at in the socio-economic space. My mission is to change the world through operations by providing small business owners with a stable business foundation (processes, tech, people) so they can scale and shift the wealth and power dynamics in our current world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road to entrepreneurship is a real journey of self-discovery and healing. Becoming a business leader and the face of my own brand felt scary and heavy, especially as someone with so much unprocessed trauma. I quickly realized that any internal struggles I was facing would materialize as hurdles in my business if I didn’t deal with them.
I have pivoted and shifted in my brand and services several times over the last 2 years to find my zone of genius and the space where I could generate the most impact. Burning your business to the ground to transition is a real leap of faith and by no means struggle-free.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mastermind Business Services. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The mission behind the brand is to change the world through operations. A simple sentence with complex structures behind it, for sure. My business is different from competitors as a queer woman-owned business with a full team of expert women who are all striving for the same mission. Using my core framework for sustainable growth, we come into businesses when they are ready to scale but don’t want to risk burning out or losing what they have worked so hard for. We are often brought in to do process mappings and tech audits so business owners can make informed decisions, and from there, my team will work with you to create sustainable processes and tech tools that provide automation and stability. I work directly with our clients on developing their company culture and leadership skills as the head of the organization. I am so proud to have supported over 50 businesses since my business inception in 2020 and to see so many of my clients really scaling and becoming internationally known experts. When you hire us you are always my client. Even when the invoices stop, I am a champion of your brand and your mission because your wins are my wins.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I want to leave a legacy of disrupting the status quo, of creating a better world for my kids, and being known as someone who impacted multitudes of lives. My work is about so much more than generating personal wealth and I want that reflected when you hear my name in a crowded room.
My family is a driving force in keeping me moving and stretching even when it is uncomfortable. They deserve a world that feels good to be a citizen of and to feel free to pursue their passions.
