Conversations with Earl Why

Today we’d like to introduce you to Earl Why.

Hi Earl, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up I was very competitive. Always winning academic awards & competitions. Even though my mother, who I barely knew because I was a foster kid most of my life, wasn’t very motivating. I remember watching “American Idol” with my family when I was young and dreamt of going on the show, winning, and becoming a huge star.

Surprisingly, I was shy amongst crowds. I stood out like a sore thumb because of my pale skin & green eyes (only 2% of the population have green eyes), but I loved school and was sort of a class clown.

I graduated school early, my 11th-grade year. I was mentoring, tutoring, leading study groups, working multiple jobs at the mall, and taking the transit everywhere. I was busy dodging rumors & sex, hosting house parties on the weekends and all summer long. I also dealt with serious problems back home with my family, being a foster kid, etc.

I took acting classes at Hollywood Studios & went to beauty school at L Makeup Institute. I also played a small role in a neighborhood movie in LV NV.

I became Early Yayo overnight. Made one album under that name & then changed to Earl Why (Early, my last name, elongated) Dropped “Earl Why He Lit U Up” (EP). Then later releasing Early Madness. Both of my earlier projects were hard copies. Then I dropped “Early Bird” in 2021 and “Early Bird 2” Jan of 2022. Mother’s Day, 2022 I also dropped “Big Mama” streaming on all platforms. I have over 10 music videos out on YouTube. Along with that, I also shared my energy and music with my fans abroad performing and headlining over 10 shows all over Texas & California (including artists like Mozzy, & Tay Money) & hosted over 5 venues as well.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is completely smooth sailing. Bills, traveling, deaths in the family/friends, haters, and being a single mother made things very difficult for me. Engineers/producers/photographers weren’t as professional as they seemed. Especially being that I was a young, pretty, Female artist. But I worked through all the discrepancies & pushed further & further every year. Getting closer to my dreams.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself to be one of the first alternative female rap stars. With my own voice/image like no other. Everywhere I go & perform my presence is well appreciated & respected for its individuality.

What matters most to you?
My daughter/family matters most to me because they need me.
