Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Huggins.
Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Fat Stream LLC with Andrew Hosage, a business partner, in the fall of 2012. Our mission was to bring professional creativity to our local events through technology. We started with just a PA audio system. Over the past 10 years, we have grown to provide production services such as sound, lighting, and video to elevate the customer and client experience throughout Texas.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Besides managing a business through Covid-19? Working on our growth has always been the most challenging part. If we were to grow too quickly, we would stumble and fail to provide our customers with the experience they deserve. If we cannot deliver an event at 100 percent, I don’t want to deliver. Learning with, training, and growing our team with the rate of technological change has always provided a challenge. The amount of advances our industry has seen just in the last decade has been spectacular but has made every day an opportunity to learn something new, which has been an amazing adventure.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Fat Stream has strived to differentiate itself visually through interesting and thoughtful lighting and video designs. Our visions are developed in alignment with our client’s needs and themes using visual aids and 3D renders and brought to reality through the hard work of our techs. We are most known for being the team that collaborates with multiple vendors cohesively on site-specific projects. I’m most proud of the flexibility our team has. They overcome technically challenging designs against ever-changing needs and timelines daily.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a somewhat normal kid until I was 12 or 13. Then, my mom let me install two fifteen-inch speakers in her 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon. She has always pushed me to explore my interests, including coding, electronic design, and of course, Volkswagens.
