Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Pickett.
Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This pursuit all started during the beginning of COVID. Once lockdown started, my girlfriend and I stayed with my mom and stepdad, at least for the beginning of it. We all became close, making dinner together, and watching a movie almost every night. It was during this time that I introduced Wiley, my Step-dad and soon-to-be business partner, to CBD. I recall him complaining about aches and pains, wanting to avoid pharmaceuticals, I remember not blaming him for this sentiment. Turns out Wiley ended up really finding that CBD helped him manage his pain. It inspired he and I both to pursue getting a growers license and grow our own CBD plants together. Soon enough we were looking at over 300 plants; Beautiful, robust, and healthy green giants… At first, we all thought this was just a hobby we enjoyed together, like many things to keep us busy and productive during Covid. But by late summer 2020, we were realized this is a business we have on our hands and others could benefit from what we offered, like Wiley. Once this started settling in we started doing our research and looked for the best vendors we could find to help us along the way…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is not always smooth, but hey, we didn’t expect it to be coming into this market. Changing laws and requirements by the state of Texas, sentiment change and competition. What helps tremendously is Wiley’s background in agriculture and manufacturing and my experience with people and the product itself. I care tremendously about the consumer, the person, and the quality of the product we put out there, as does Wiley and everyone else that touches this process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are Texas Hill Country Cultivators – THCC and we’re a CBD company that specializes in CBD/Delta8 products. THCC is a family-owned and operated farm looking to bring our community the best and most cared for products. With 30+ years of experience in agriculture farming and our passion to set standards high in this new industry, we produced some of the finest flower, cartridges and edibles in the state of Texas. We are excited for new products that are right around the corner, our growth as a company, and our continued contribution to the community, near and far. Be on the lookout for some up and coming collabs with a variety of local Texas-based companies!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memory was making movies with my best friends. It was one of the first times I got to step outside of my comfort zone and truly find myself as a person. Those experiences with my friends, doing fun and creative stuff in our small town, helped me overcome obstacles and setbacks life was throwing at me. It also helped me find the person I am today. In a small town, it can be hard to find the fun and creative, so we had to make it ourselves.
