Hidden Gems: Meet Carolyn Cummins of Santosha Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Cummins.

Carolyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Santosha Solutions out of a desire to help others with their business success by teaching them the things I have learned over the 30 years of sales, marketing, and business operations experience.

I have worked in many different industries at all levels from administrative assistant to senior vice president. My experience has helped me gain successful results for many clients.

A little story. When I was a young child, my mom asked me what I wanted to do for a career. I told her I wanted to be a teacher. She questioned my decision based on my other interests and suggested I think of some other jobs. I thought about it and decided I wanted to be a judge. She then reminded me of my lack of interest in reading and that I would need to go to law school and become a lawyer first. This didn’t sound appealing so I considered other options.

I finally settled on fashion design and at that point, she metaphorically “threw up her hands” and stopped asking!

What I find interesting is how life comes full circle, I ultimately became a teacher.

I left my high-paying executive career in corporate America to become a yoga teacher with the goal to open my own yoga studio. After doing those things, I decided my skills as a business person could help other people. Now I not only still teach yoga part-time, I teach people how to find their own potential and business success to ultimately find Santosha (joy and contentment).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not smooth!

The road to success is never straight or smooth!

I can’t think of a specific struggle, this might be due to my general outlook on life….every challenge is an opportunity to improve and grow.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Santosha Solutions is about helping people find their “santosha”. Santosha is a sanskrit word that can be thought of as contentment or what I like to refer to as joy.

Success for the sake of success doesn’t bring anyone joy or happiness. So many people work excessively hard and work long hours, only to find themselves unhappy, overworked, and burnt out. There is a better way.

I help people discover their greatest potential and business success while helping them find the joy and excitement of being an entrepreneur again. Each business coaching strategy is different depending on what the client is dealing with in their business. My greatest strength for our clients is my ability to talk through a situation and find the real goal and then help the client see the path to get there. It is their path, their journey, I just open up the possibilities to seeing it.

What matters most to you?
Family. Connections.

My family is so important to me, I moved from Dallas to Georgetown where my brother and sister-in-law lived and where my parents moved after 30+ years in South Austin. My goal was to spend more time with my parents while I could.

I saw a video once that explained you spend the most time with your parents as a young person. There was a chart that showed the amount of time and how as we age, we see our parents less and less. This really struck me. My parents are some of the most amazing people I know, they taught me so much about work ethic, business, and marketing. I am where I am today because of them.

This is another reason Santosha Solutions is the business it is. My goal isn’t to be the biggest coaching business or grow to X. My goal is to help people succeed, which thankfully has helped me succeed…all with the ultimate goal of finding my joy…hanging with the family.
