Hi Meredith, we’d love for you to start by telling us how Sparkle Circle Healing got started.
Honestly, it was a mess. I am extremely well suited for a hermitage in the deep woods, going about the general business of deep spiritual contemplation and homebuilding in the slowest and quietest way possible. When we found ourselves in the throes of utter chaos with two babies 17 months apart, I found myself teetering on the edge of total madness. And then plunging in. My husband, conversely, was swimming in the pure bliss of having fulfilled his life’s purpose of being a father. Every good quality in him got better. Every quality, good or bad in me, just fell apart. It was total atrophy. Eventually I capitulated into a mental breakdown of biblical proportions – a most epic panic attack. At the time it was a breakdown, now I see it as a breakthrough.
I went on a weeklong retreat to the desert and the unwinding caught its stride. It was not just two years of unwinding, it was a lifetime. For days I walked around the labyrinth before dawn and the entire universe opened up to me showing me the stories I was told and believed about being a woman, a mother, a partner, a citizen, and family member. I spent that entire week being bludgeoned. I was so raw that a simple “Hi, how are you this morning” from a kindly soul would shatter me. Fragile as a bubble in a field of cactus.
And then on Day Five, everything cleared. I woke up understanding what was what and with my insides completely alive and clean and ready to be filled. I received a download that energy healing was my path and that my children were my spiritual awakening. Within two months, I was enrolled in a Reiki course and several months after that enrolled in an intensive earth medicine program with The Four Winds. The personal unpacking and healing has never stopped but after having done it with the most extraordinarily helpful tools, I help other souls do the same.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After integrating the breakdown/breakthrough, practicing energy medicine has been fairly smooth. In energy work, there is a certain surrender to the tides of need and consciousness. My schedule fills when I am ready to work and it rests when I am ready to rest. I know it doesn’t work for every business but surrendering to the great cosmic opera has infused my business with a feeling of ease.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
When people hear “energy healer” they’re either intrigued, terrified, or ready to book an appointment immediately. Energy healing is extraordinarily fascinating in that it’s very direct and very delicate. It works on the quantum level with the finer wavelengths that penetrate your body and field with the instructions we give it. I assist in relaxing my clients to the place where they can receive these fine energies and then direct it to them. It is them who accept and alchemize it into their own healing.
During a session a client will settle into the studio and we’ll briefly talk about what’s going on and why they felt moved to book an appointment. Work issues, parenthood, anxiety and depression, abuse, physical health, loss of direction – these are all things that find a home in the energy studio.
From our conversation, I’ll intuit what tools we’ll bring to the table that day. I use a combination of Reiki, Earth Medicine, journeying, breathing, drum and rattle sound baths, crystals and stones, oracle cards, and ritual. The energy and tools we employ let clients leave lighter, more clear, and with deeper understanding.
The in-studio experience itself is a bit of its own retreat and magic. My hacienda-style adobe studio is set on five wild acres in Lakeway and clients soak in the native garden, live oaks, and bubbling fountain before settling inside. Our sessions begin with a hand washing ritual using Milk + Honey’s decadent hand wash and scrub to prepare the body to receive its healing. After the energy work concludes we’ll discuss our findings over tea and chocolate and ease back into the present moment. Sessions are a delight not just for the healing but also for the indulgent extras!
While the studio is intoxicating, I do also visit other locations for Mother and Father blessing ways, woo-woo bachelor/ette parties, home and office clearings, wedding officiating, spiritual hospice care and death spiral release, and personal rites and rituals.
Rites, rituals, energy work, really all spiritual and emotional work, support us in the trials of deep love and deep suffering – the things that polish us into the people we’re meant to be. There is a place for everything in this world. Everything. The good, the bad, the in between. Our job as humans is to absorb all of these things and transmute them into something more useful and loving than before. It is my deep joy to see my clients stand in the circle of their becoming and sparkle.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is:
Showing up for the pain.
Feeling your feelings.
Recasting your story.
As a whole, I hope we can go through (not around) our own trials so we can feel who it is we truly are. When we can feel it, we can see it. When we can see it, we can be it.
