Hidden Gems: Meet Stefanie Hodinh of She Does Your Books

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Hodinh.

Hi Stefanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The story of my business started about two years ago when I was a couple of months pregnant with my son. I had been working for a public accounting firm for about four years at that time and knew in my soul that it wasn’t right for me. I had dreams for something different, something more fulfilling, but I didn’t know what it was. I got a call from my friend Liya James saying she had written a book (The Get Real Method) and was hoping I would read it in exchange for feedback. This book lit me up. I wanted to dive into the work outlined within it immediately. However, my initial reaction was “I can’t pursue a change right now because I’m pregnant with my second baby.” BUT my second and more true realization was “I HAVE to pursue a change right now because I’m pregnant with my second baby.” I went on to work with Liya as a mentor where we dug in and found the real me.

We discovered things such as what I’m uniquely good at, what people enjoy about working with me, what drives me and how I use that to excel and do good work. It was incredible, but I was nearing the end of my pregnancy and I was beginning to worry I wouldn’t find my next steps in time. Liya reassured me and suggested that I would probably have a breakthrough shortly after having a baby because it would be a time of inspiration. She was so right. One morning while feeding my baby boy, I had the vision. It flowed into my head, I started jotting it down on paper and before I knew it, I had my first client. While driving to meet this first client, I was overcome with gratitude, inspiration, joy, and conviction. I knew I was on the right path. I knew this is how I’m supposed to feel about the work I spend my precious time on. That was last September. This February, I was able to say goodbye to the accounting firm entirely and have a full slate of fabulous clients that I absolutely love working with. I feel fulfilled to be a part of their team, to support them, to take care of them and in turn see how that gives them the time and freedom to build their businesses and make their own dreams come true.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, mostly smooth! Since I am in startup mode, everything is time and brain power intensive. I am used to giving a lot of myself at work, but I was working for someone else and there was no risk involved. I had an incredibly safe job. Demanding yes, but very safe. Now I have real skin in the game. I am taking my time and trying to be very careful about each step I take and sometimes that’s a bit scary. But that is also what makes it fun! One of my coaches always reminds me to that I get to choose to make things fun and easy if I want to. When I do that, everything becomes lighter and the fears start to slip away.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about She Does Your Books LLC?
I am female-owned and most of my clients are female. I am thankful I get to say that with pride! I made my brand pink because anyone that knows me knows that I adore pink. I love that I get to be my true self in a normally blah blah black and white space. I specialize in working with creative types, such as interior designers. Designers and artists are my new favorite type of people! I love how they work, the beauty they create, the energy they tend to have. One of my most special skills is how deeply I care about others and how I use that to drive the work I do.

Any big plans?
Besides the obvious answer of growing my business client-wise, I’m really excited to grow my team! I’ve got plans to bring on others. I enjoy teaching and am looking forward to helping other women. Specifically, I aim to hire on single mothers and women in college who want to create financial freedom for themselves and their families.

Pricing:
