Hidden Gems: Meet Tiffany Black of Gilded Serpent Divination

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Black.

Tiffany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A few years ago, I received an email advertising an intuitive tarot course. I had already begun to feel a call toward the metaphysical world, so the timing was perfect. I enrolled thinking it would be a fun party trick. As I learned the cards, I realized that tarot is not a party trick. It is in fact a life-changing self-development tool. As I was learning the cards and various possible spreads and combinations, I was experiencing some major changes in my life. I had chosen to create distance with toxic family members and explore a spiritual path outside of our tradition. I was forced to closely examine myself and decided I needed to recreate myself from the foundation up. Tarot helped me through that process. Once I realized how beneficial it was, I knew I had to help others see that. I became a professional tarot reader.

I was very nervous at first because I am a very introverted person, but I became comfortable with people and developed better social skills. I learned that everyone is experiencing life in their own unique way. It was fascinating to me.

My spiritual path expanded rather quickly beyond the typical comfort zones of most people. I began to read books devoted to the occult and education specifically regarding what is commonly known as The Left Hand Path. It is a very misunderstood philosophy, but I am an endlessly curious person. The concept of apotheosis is not well known. In fact it is feared, and this fear is mostly due to lack of education on the topic. Life is so much more fluid than we can ever imagine, yet most individuals are extremely stuck due to social conditioning and indoctrination. I have taken what I’ve learned and created a reading style that liberates people so that they may experience true empowerment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been the smoothest road. When I first started reading professionally I was so awkward and nervous. Sometimes I drew a blank and had to take a minute to focus on what was happening in the reading. There were rude and impatient people. I read at events where people had a set expectation of what a reading and reader should be or do. I lacked confidence so it affected me. But it did not deter me. It was simply a challenge to overcome in my mind. I knew I was capable. Over time, as I learned more and more and trusted my intuition, I could see that the cards were designed to be relevant regardless of the situation. I learned that there was a lot more logic than mysticism involved in reading cards.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
You should know that a reading with me will create a new perspective. I specialize in elevating the client’s experience of tarot by creating a calm atmosphere and asking questions that cause the client to think creatively and honestly. I am known for creating breakthroughs. What sets me apart from others is that I am not competitive. I am simply an individual devoted to my art form and I support other readers who are as well. Each reader has something special to offer. I am proud of the experience I create through the radical suggestion of the philosophy that the individual is the highest priority. I am currently working with a designer to create a website that will provide information regarding services and pricing, but at the moment I am found most active on Instagram under the

@gilded.serpent.divination handle. Readings at the time of this publication are $75 for a 30-minute session. I am also available for parties at an hourly rate. Please feel free to reach out to me for details about any of these services.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
This whole adventure has been a risk to me. I am grateful for all I’ve learned and all of the people who have trusted me with their emotions and stories. I have enjoyed every single moment and I would do it all over again. I am so glad I did not let my fear of imperfection and social anxiety prevent me from discovering what I truly love doing. Risk is important. If you don’t try, you will never know what is on the other side of your fear.
