Life & Work with Olivia Fox of Georgetown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Fox.

Hi Olivia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in high school. I discovered my love for photography as a freshman when I joined the yearbook in 2016. I fell in love with sports photography and my love of being on the field to capture that one moment that will last forever. I continued studying for all 4 years of high school, became their main sports photographer, and helped the teacher teach photography to undergrads for the last 2 years. I fell in love with photography because it’s the one thing that allows you to freeze a moment in time. My senior year arrived in 2020, and I wanted to go to college to study photography. I enrolled in Austin community college and slowly fell in love with fashion/studio photography. I started my business about two years ago to capture creative ideas that people wanted me to capture. I also started working for local businesses around Georgetown to create their social media posts. I won an award for a series I captured called room 212. It was published on my school’s art gallery wall, and I plan on winning again this year.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It was a challenging road. My plan after I graduated high school was to go to UT and study sports media, but I didn’t get in, so I went to Austin Community College. I didn’t get into UT because I grew up with a learning disability, so my grades weren’t high enough. This was a struggle because I had to switch my whole plan of doing sports photography to studying other forms of photography, but I fell in love with fashion and studio work. This course opened the door to focusing on my love for photography which is a positive that came out of it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer, and I specialize in portraiture and fashion photos. I am known for my crazy creative sets that I like to bring to life. I am most proud of being part of the photography community, expressing my creative mind, and making it come true. Something that sets me apart from others is that I’m up for anything to get that shot, but I also take the time to get to know my subject and create something that represents who they are and shows that threw my photos. My photos are not one size fits. They are individually styled to fit that specific client.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when we flew to England and went to Alice in Wonderland. We went with a family I hadn’t seen in 3 years. I was 7, and we were riding all the rides, and the last ride we went on was a roller coaster, and my 60-year-old grandma went on it with us. It was my favorite memory with my family and also as a child.
