Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Adelicia
Hi Rachel , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a classically trained actress, and was originally in Los Angeles pursuing that dream. I loved being a part of telling stories. And I always loved fashion- I’ve loved shopping vintage, mixing patterns and more from a young age, trying trends. Getting stopped and asked about my outfit was not an unusual experience for me. I took my friends shopping- I loved helping people! But when my mom suggested I start a fashion blog, at first I resisted. I didn’t think it was something that would serve my story. However, when I came back to Texas to help with my grandma’s care I not only started a blog, I threw myself into it. What I discovered was that the blog is an extension of acting. We’re just telling stories. So. Yes. There’s outfit inspiration, designer history, and shopping on Investment Piece, but our main focus is telling our (yours and mine) stories through fashion. From what we wear to what we keep to what we give away, to what outfits make us feel, we’re interested and attempt to tell all of those stories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Blogging and social media are constantly changing, and my vision has grown with them. However, that means it is a constant learning curve. Blogging is not a set industry and finding my own path, when there’s not always been one to follow, and keeping up with technology has been challenging. It’s been thrilling to find my audience and refine my niche; but it is a constant progress!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Investment Piece is a fashion blog that publishes 4 days a week (and every day on Socials!) We cover everything from outfits to getting to know designers to shops you should be shopping to our fashion stories. On socials we do weekly video series- from what we’re wearing to making cocktails. I’m so proud that I’ve managed to stick to my own sense of style, that I’ve learned a ton of technology, and that my vision has grown as I’ve refined it!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During our C19 crisis, I’ve learned that fashion still matters, that we’re still telling stories through fashion. Maybe your day to day wardrobe has changed- but that’s exciting! It tells a story. And your sweats are telling a story, just like your heels do. I’m still excited to tell those stories. I’m still fascinated by what we’re wearing and shopping. And I’m super excited to overdress for everything when we’ve made it of the crisis.
