Meet Sacred Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sacred Thomas.

Hi Sacred, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Miami, Florida in the 90’s. My mother was a model (Kassandra Thomas) and my dad (Philip Michael Thomas) was an actor so I was raised pretty unconventionally. I was never told that I needed to go to college or find a good job to be successful. Instead, I was raised to find out what I was passionate about and follow that. The money will eventually come. With that said, I chose to go to Texas State University on my own and studied at the McCoy school of business. While in school, I founded the company Five Star Entourage with my business partner Vinny Jurado. We ran that for seven years. Five years in, I could tell I needed to do something different but I did not know what that was so I kept asking myself the question, “If time or money were no object, what would I spend my time doing?”. Eventually, the answer was that I would travel and film. So I bought a camera learned how to use it on Youtube and took action.

Sacred Shot Media was founded a couple of months after I bought that camera on February 2019! I hit the ground running filming anything and everything I could. I would film weddings, fitness videos, commercials, food, conferences you name it. I decided to do it that way to get a grasp on what I liked to film. This leads me to understand that I just loved telling stories through video so no matter what it is that I’m filming if I can resonate with the story behind it, I can produce a product that the client and I could be proud of. Today I’ve officially owned this video production company for two years and some change so I’m still relatively new but I’ve been fortunate to film in multiple states and countries around the world! Most notably, I’ve been able to film two Tedx talks and a docu-series called Tiger Kingdom (A spin-off of the show Tiger King). Although I’ve been a part of some big projects, I am still learning every single day to perfect my craft. There so much to learn in the video production industry that I may not learn everything in my lifetime but I will try my best to soak up whatever knowledge I can while I am here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth at all. Running a part bus company for seven years has had its ups and downs. We were in college so we bought what we could afford in terms of buses and converted them into party buses. Since we did not buy new buses, we had to treat them like babies constantly paying to maintain and fix them. A lot of times the money we made went to fixing issues with the buses. At some point, it began to be a hamster wheel that felt like we were running but barely moving forward. The things that we did wrong & the things that we did right with that business I tried to learn from to take into Sacred Shot Media. In the video production world at the beginning, I was a one man crew. I would film, monitor sound and even set up the lights for productions myself as well as be the editor for post-production. Doing all of that has helped me get a grasp on the different jobs that go into producing a quality product.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own a company called Sacred Shot Media but I consider myself a creative. My company tells people’s stories through video. We specialize in documentary-style storytelling. Aside from my business, I’ve been able to amass a decently large following on TikTok (101,000 followers) and Instagram 14,400 (followers). On these social media apps, I create short-form content that is funny, inspirational and visually stimulating. What sets me apart from others is that when you ask the question, “Do you love what you do?” the answer is absolute positively YES! As soon as I get up, the first thing I want to do is create. Because creating is in my job description, I don’t feel like I’m working. I don’t need to drag my feet to get on the computer and start editing because I love what I do. Unfortunately, we live in a world where not everyone can say that.

Any big plans?
At this particular moment, I am have amassed a following of over 100,000 people on TikTok so right now, I have a goal to grow that following to 1 million+. I am not doing it for vanity, I’m doing it for community and freedom. The way I see it is when you find enough people who love what you are about, you can utilize that following to inspire them to do better than they are currently. You’re able to touch people’s lives that you may never get a chance to meet. You’re able to make a difference.
