Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Groleau
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Nicole Marie Groleau, I was born and raised in a small harbor town in Northern Massachusetts. I found my first camera on the side of the road when I was 15. My father is a very talented photographer who taught me what he knows, and from there, I incorporated my own creativity .I have always enjoyed photography and the arts in some form. I moved to Austin in 1996 and have been studying Art and Photography independently since then. I remember doing a Cyanotype as a child once or twice, but was mostly into photography. It wasn’t until 2021 that I fell truly in love with the Art Form. At the time I was using Art as a form of therapy as well to help with some personal trauma. While also trying to figure out how I could spend the rest of my life doingl something I love. I was really trying to find a way to incorporate two things I am passionate about, Art and nature. I knew that I wanted to do something that makes me proud simultaneously while making a positive impact on our global community,
I love to educate people on plant life, and Cyanotype and give back to the community (each year I donate a percentage of sales to a natural preserve) I definitely feel that balance is part of our responsibility.
Having a minimal footprint is an important part of my company as well. I use recycled packaging, vintage frames, I plant seeds constantly to bring new life, all my display items are some form of refurbished boxes or furniture aka brick boxes to display my greeting cards and old wine boxes for prints etc.
My Cyanotype journey began fully in 2021 when I was working on some eco-printing and a friend said I should try Cyanotype., I spent almost every day after that walking, collecting plantlife to print and share with the world..
Bleueprint is spelled Bleue-print to incorporate my French background and differentiate my company from others. My heart and soul is a part of what I do, inspiring others is my goal, and I feel that is what makes Bleueprint special.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been relatively smooth, I try to take my mistakes and make them a learning experience so that definitely helps. For me the biggest struggle is bookeeping and taxes. Lucky for me I have a friend helping me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Cyanotype is the Art form that I practice.
I specialize in educating, providing Cyanotype supplies and products.
I also provide a wedding floral keepsake service-I pick up wedding florals after the special day, press them, print them, and frame them for the couple.
Iam most proud of educating people on plant life using my art.
