Conversations with Kristin Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Rice

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved performance! I started in Theatre when I was in Elementary School and have continued to pursue Theatre and Film ever since. I professionally got started in the industry about 11 years ago beginning with some Athletic and Stunt work, then turning to more of a hosting type role, and now primarily in the Commercial realm. I also now have children that do both with me and it has been a dream come true! Family friendly and Faith based work has and always will be a passion of mine and now with children involved it has ignited that passion even further.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey within my career has definitely been full of ups and downs. Of course, any young adult venturing off to Los Angeles in hopes of “making it” will always have turbulence. I have been told everything from, “Lose 10 pounds, then we will talk” to “Don’t wear your wedding ring to auditions, it shows you won’t be as committed to your craft.” I have had to say, “no thank you,” countless times, which has been heartbreaking in some circumstances, but standing up for myself is something I have always held in high regard, and I have my family and my husband to thank for that accountability. At times I wish I would have jumped into this career sooner so that I could potentially be further along by now, but at the same time, I know I personally needed the growth and maturity to even be able to say no before being thrown into the Lion’s Den that is Hollywood. I desire to create a firm foundation so that others following in my footsteps can feel security. It is possible to have morals and a career in Film.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I primarily work in Commercial Work and for quite some time was especially involved in Theatre. I started multiple after school Theatre programs around the Los Angeles area at different schools. I also worked in family friendly improvisational acting with ComedySportz Hollywood, a troupe I was part of at the High School level here in Texas. Bringing the art of Improv to students has been such a joy! I currently focus on being a Domestic Engineer with a Toddler and Baby, also known as a Stay at Home Mom. I also help companies with Content Creation and Social Media Management.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I used to attend Father Daughter Dances when I was little. My dad would get all dressed up with me and we would always be the best dancers out on the dance floor doing flips and turns of all kinds (at least in my little mind we were quite the spectacle). We were part of a group with other Fathers and Daughters that would go on campouts, learning things such as Archery, and attend socials. I think one on one time with your parents is SO so vital. My Mom would take me on Mother Daughter weekend trips occasionally each Summer, as I got older it was harder with our schedules, but having the one on one time at least once a year was something I definitely looked forward to. My husband and I implement these ideas within our own little family with our kids! We do date nights once a month with each child to ensure we get that one on one time kids crave.
