Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Martinez
Nancy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in the beauty industry since I was 21, and my love for it is just as strong today as it was the first time I stood behind the chair. There’s something so special about helping people feel great about themselves through hairstyling it’s truly my passion.
Being born and raised in Austin, TX, I have such a deep connection to this city. There’s a unique energy here that’s vibrant and welcoming, and I draw inspiration from it daily. The culture, the people it all fuels my creativity. Plus, it’s such a great place for my family and me to enjoy the outdoors, explore new things, and connect with other locals. Austin will always have my heart.
.After juggling in and out of different salons, I finally found my home as an independent stylist. For the past six years, I’ve been the proud owner of a private studio in South Austin. There’s something incredibly special about the personal, one-on-one experience that comes with a salon suite it’s a unique atmosphere that allows me to focus entirely on my clients. Balancing my business and personal life has been a rewarding challenge, but I’ve found great success as an independent stylist, and I’m so grateful for this journey.
I specialize in lived-in color and balayage techniques, which are all about creating that effortless, sun kissed look. I also love working with hair extensions to give my clients that extra length and volume. What excites me the most is the transformation watching someone walk out with not only beautiful hair but also a renewed sense of confidence. There’s nothing better than seeing someone leave my chair with a big smile on their face!
Education is key for me! I’m always taking classes and attending workshops to stay current with the latest trends and techniques. It’s not just about knowing what’s new, but how to apply it in a way that suits each client’s unique style and personality. Beyond that, sharing what I’ve learned with other stylists as an educator brings me so much joy it’s about uplifting the whole community.
Nama Beauty holds true value to me. It was born from my passion for the beauty industry, and none of this success would have been possible without the unwavering support of God, my family, and my community. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey so far.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to expand my brand as an independent stylist. My dream is to create my own line of hair extensions and an organic product line that reflects my commitment to high-quality, natural ingredients. I’m eager and filled with passion for this industry, and I can’t wait to see where Nama Beauty goes next. My hope is to continue building my legacy, one transformation at a time!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I truly believe that failure is a key part of success, and what makes you successful is consistency. I’ve faced many failures throughout my career as a hairstylist, but I wouldn’t be the stylist I am today without those moments of trial and error. If anything, I’m grateful for the obstacles and challenges I’ve encountered, both as a stylist and a business owner. They’ve shaped me, taught me valuable lessons, and pushed me to grow. Every setback has made me stronger and more resilient, and I embrace the learning that comes with it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets me apart is my passion for natural hair coloring and the art of blending tones. Whether it’s creating bold hues or subtle, seamless transitions, I love taking on challenges like going from dark to blonde or adding rich red tones and making it look effortless. I’m all about creating natural, blended, and rich tones that enhance the hair’s overall beauty. It’s not just about the color, but how it complements each individual’s unique features and style. That attention to detail and personal touch is what makes my work stand out.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
From a young age, I knew exactly where I was headed. I was always into fashion, always cutting my dolls’ hair, and getting the family ready for big events. Even back then, I could see more than just hair. I saw character, personality, and individuality. I knew this was what I was meant to do. It wasn’t just about styling hair; it was about helping people express who they are through their look. That passion has stuck with me throughout the years, and it continues to drive me today. I’m just as excited and passionate about hair now as I was back then!
