Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back home at the age of 6, I watched as my mom opened an at-home bakery, ” 99 Cupcakes.” She offered custom fondant cakes and tasty cupcakes and cookies. She helped me learn the art of baking and I even assisted with deliveries until the age of 15. Though she temporarily closed the business after moving to Austin in 2017, the idea of owning my own one day remained.
After graduating from The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in 2021, I honed my skills in Austin’s kitchens, even becoming Head Pastry Chef at ‘Ember’ in Downtown Austin. Yet, my heart yearned for cake design.
AlyCakes officially began in January 2024 with a friend’s recommendation through Instagram. That first order sparked a journey to share my passion with everyone and every cake is a testament to my mom’s inspiration and the joy of turning sweet visions into reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running AlyCakes alone is definitely my toughest hurdle.
Juggling baking, decorating, marketing, finances, seasonal products, and a work/life balace, leaves me little time for anything else!
