Meet Dr. Judd Johns of Dr. Judd Institute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Judd Johns

Hi Dr. Judd, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At the age of 12, my path began in a military academy in rural Virginia, shaping me into a fighter who would later walk-on to play football for the University of Colorado. Alongside triumphs like winning a championship came battles with injuries, concussions, and an inner rage that led me down a dark path – overdosing on painkillers and booze. That is when I realized my true journey was just beginning.

I committed to seeking deeper meaning and healing, traveling across continents from Africa to India, searching for wisdom in ancient practices and holistic teachings. Yet, no matter where I went, I couldn’t escape myself – the beliefs that held me captive as a victim instead of embracing my role as the hero in my own story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“When you allow the Spirit to guide your heart, you’re going to be unstoppable, son.” Those were the last words of my father as he lay dying in my arms. This moment became the true catalyst for my healing and the foundation of my life’s work. Although loss remains part of life’s journey, it can also inspire transformation beyond measure.

With my signature program, Family Unity Now (F.U.N.), I empower families to strengthen their bonds while helping student-athletes thrive in both academics and athletics. Many families struggle to connect and support their student-athletes amidst the pressures of education and sports. This disconnect can lead to stress, burnout, and missed opportunities. Together, we can cultivate a supportive environment that celebrates success and fosters unity.

I also poured myself into two books after the death of my father, “Be Your Dr.” while also shaping “My Sessions with Frank” into something raw and authentic, a testament to resilience through grief. Each chapter reflects not just techniques for lifestyle transformation, but also candid anecdotes from my past that are intended to resonate with readers seeking their paths toward change. My books are intended to make a real difference in this world and I am seeking the highest standards in publication; each page echoing themes for forgiveness and growth, inviting readers to embark on their own journey toward healing – not only individually but collectively as members of an interconnected community striving for unity. And that is what I believe Austin represents at our core.

We’ve been impressed with Dr. Judd Institute, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My website, drjudd.com, will be offering a series of Transformational Meditations designed to guide people through turbulent times. With each meditation, the intent is to learn how to center your thoughts, encourage curiosity, and ask big questions that have the power to alter your life’s trajectory. Being no stranger to struggle; with over twenty years in the field of psychology I had to create The Dr. Judd Show. The Show, which also launches January 1st alongside the Meditation series, showcases over a 100 guests that share their struggles intertwined with joy; laughter with tears as we explore what it means to be human together. I do all face-to-face interviews with people that have overcome some very powerful odds. When we feel someone else’s struggles mirroring our own journey – the courage underneath that vulnerability – in those moments of connection, we are all able to embrace the burden of anger and resentment. How our stories of forgiveness can transform us. When we truly allow the spirit to guide our hearts and decide to be unstoppable.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Seeking mentorship has been a profound journey and I have one fundamental standard: if you aren’t living it, I’m not interested in your approach to life. True mentorship comes from those whose lives reflect their teachings – how you eat, move, rest, and play should resonate with the harmony of nature.

So far, my journey has been enriched by countless mentors who have taught me invaluable lessons through humility. The people I admire the most have exceptional families – fathers and mothers, husbands and wives who prioritize love and connectedness. These relationships serve as my compass for mentorship; witnessing genuine connection inspires me to guide others on their path.

I believe that how we approach one aspect of life is a reflection of how we tackle everything else. As I strive for balance on my path towards abundance, I’m looking for mentors who embody this philosophy in their daily lives. That is the mentor I strive to be. Remember, how you do one thing… is how you do everything.
