Exploring Life & Business with Angela Shamblin of Good Bites Food Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Shamblin

Hi Angela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I actually started in the textile world designing interiors of watercraft and motorhomes. I was a single mom of 3 kids and cooking gave me an outlet to relax and provide nutrition for them to grow. I studied nutrition at Stanford after my mother was diagnosed with Dementia in 2016 and the fever was on. Let’s eat healthy and help the brain and body stay strong! The fire to my passion was ignite.

I love to entertain and see people enjoy themselves and connect through food and conversation, football parties, graduations. birthdays, basically all get togethers I wanted to provide food. I went to work for HEB and became a cooking connection employee and there is where I developed the platform to move forward. After my mother started needing my help I had to leave HEB and I started my business where I could be there for her and still follow my passion. Today I am successful, fulfilled and I am still able to create for my mother, with the help of my children especially. God is Great!!!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been smooth. Trying to find a commercial kitchen was a challenge for sure, I looked at so many and finally found the golden place to start. Next getting the word out there about what I am doing was difficult, a lot of my network is in Washington State so to begin in Texas was ground zero for me. Not being a techie is also a road block but I found a great content creator and off we went.

As you know, we’re big fans of Good Bites Food Company . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Good Bites has a catering side, a meal prep entity, and a CBD baking company. I started this business out of a passion for food and sharing with others. My parents were ill when I moved them to Austin, Texas with me and I needed to find an avenue for my passion.
I worked for our local grocery store and really became the cook that I have dreamt of being. I started doing baked goods that are CBD infused and selling to local smoke shops. I use a commercial kitchen downtown Austin to be in compliance with the laws for hemp.
I am known for my catering mainly and charcuterie boards but many know that I can make some seriously delicious cookies with CBD.
My brand is healthy tasty meals and providing a great entertain environment for speciality parties ie: Football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and especially New Year’s Eve. I do love celebrating people so birthdays are alway exciting.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What is there not to like about Austin. The people are friendly, amazing, and supportive. I especially love when “Unicorns” those who were born and raised in Austin invite me to iconic staples of food and events in our beautiful city.

You know I guess the only thing I would be the least happy about is the construction and traffic after Covid with all the people coming in but you know, that is progress and that is growth. Both a good thing moving in the right direction.
