Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Cahill
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In college, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. After struggling with chronic fatigue, heart palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, and more, I decided to heal myself with diet and lifestyle changes. That led me to developing a passion for helping others heal too.
While working as a software engineer at Google, I became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through IIN while also sharing my story and knowledge on Instagram, building my platform there. My job at Google prevented me from actually taking on clients, but I still built a community. When I got laid off in 2023, I knew it was my chance to actually follow my purpose of helping others. Around this same time, I started researching the power of the mind when it comes to healing physical illness (I first learned of this in a Joe Dispenza book, Becoming Supernatural).
I also noticed in my conversations with people who were changing their diet and lifestyle to heal chronic illness, a lot of them felt stuck, stagnant, and lacked the belief that they could heal.
All of this led me to learn about hypnotherapy and it’s power in using one’s mind to support physical health and healing. I found a program in Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapy at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America. Through the training, I learned that the subconscious mind is so much more powerful than most people give it credit for. And that when we work with our subconscious mind (via the state of hypnosis) to shift our beliefs, feelings, and behaviors, we can achieve rapid and easy transformative changes that impact every aspect of our lives.
I am only just getting started in supporting my clients heal physical symptoms, overcome fears, increase their motivation, and build confidence, self-esteem, and self-empowerment.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had many challenges come up. The biggest one is that, after finishing my hypnotherapy training in August, I had only just started working with my first clients in September, when my dad passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
It was extremely devastating and difficult and I had to take some time of from working with clients and building and promoting my business.
It left me questioning my faith and brought up a lot of doubt in myself. It’s still been very difficult, but one thing that’s helped me move through this is seeing it as an opportunity for growth. I’ve learned so much about life and about myself. I value those I love even deeper. I see my own strength and resilience. And I recognize the power in choosing peace and acceptance when faced with a difficult loss or change that’s outside of our own control.
I do believe that in going through this loss and grief, I will be even better equipped to support others, not just in their own grief, but in facing and moving through difficult life changes with grace and strength.
Other than that, it’s difficult navigating being a solo entrepreneur. I promote my business, write email newsletters, create social media content, create programs, do admin work, and set up backend systems, all while fulfilling my actual purpose, which is to support my clients in their growth and healing. In this stage, it can feel like more time and energy has to go to all of those other things, rather than actually practicing hypnotherapy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Certified Medical Support Hypnotherapist. I help people overcome limiting beliefs and empower themselves, whether they’re facing health challenges or looking to thrive in life. I specialize in using hypnotherapy for accelerated healing and pain control, supporting those healing from chronic illness or disease, preparing for surgery or childbirth, or looking to manage chronic pain.
I also work with people who are not seeking physical healing, but are looking to overcome limiting beliefs and feel empowered so that they can thrive. The subconscious mind controls much of how we think, act, and behave, so rewiring the subconscious mind with hypnotherapy can support almost anyone who wants to create a change in their life.
The basis of my work is supporting my clients in self-acceptance because when we accept ourselves, we stand up for ourselves and set boundaries, we believe we are worthy of our desires, we know that we may not be able to control what happens to us, but we can always control how we respond, and we’re able to navigate difficult situations with more confidence and grace.
What sets me apart is my training at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America. With that program, I have completed more than 500 hours of training in hypnotherapy. It is estimated that only 5% of hypnotherapists have the quality and depth of training that HAA (Hypnotherapy Academy of America) alumni have.
I also practice Integral Hypnotherapy™, which is the only modern hypnotherapy methodology that has been scientifically validated. A multi-year, NIH-funded study concluded that Integral Hypnotherapy™ is just as effective — and in many cases superior — as medication and other forms of therapy.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that mindset really is everything. I’ve learned this in my experience building my business and in my training as a hypnotherapist. I can’t control what happens to me, but I can always control how I respond. And choosing to keep a positive outlook, even in difficult times, is another way for me to grow and evolve into a better person.
The best thing I can do, in my business and in my life, is empower myself to see possibility, growth, and resilience in every situation. This mindset has been essential in my journey, helping me support not only my own goals but also my clients’ paths to healing and self-discovery. This mindset is essential, not just for success in a new business, but in reaching any goal or making any significant life change.
