Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
During the pandemic, I found myself watching a lot of movies. I had tried to do film reviews, and discussions on other social media platforms for a few years, to little success. I realized that TikTok was growing quite a bit and found a lack of movie related content on there. I decided to start applying my craft to the platform and that’s where I realized there was an audience. I would start by just talking about any movie I was watching but eventually incorporated themed series and filmmaker retrospectives, specifically around filmmaker who had new movies coming out. Over the next few years, I would see my channel grow. It felt great to find a community where we could celebrate the joy of movies.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Sometimes you get high viewership on a video, other times you don’t. Algorithms can be tricky. You also get individuals who don’t agree with your opinion on a certain movie, but that is normal and expected. All in all, it has been a very pleasant journey. To know that we live in an age where we can put ourselves out there, talk about something we’re passionate about, and find people who can connect with it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in film reviews and other movie related discussions on social media. I am known for doing retrospective showcases on filmmakers and movie franchises. I also love to do videos where I recommend the nostalgic video store era movies. I am a child of the video store. I spent a lot of time there as a kid, and that is where I discovered some of the best movies I ever watched throughout my life.
