Conversations with Stacie Snider

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Snider

Hi Stacie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Stacie, I currently work as a flight attendant and Corepower Yoga instructor. I’m starting pilot training in March set to embark on a journey to obtain my private pilots license and eventually become a pilot for Envoy! I just recently got engaged to my partner of 10 years who has founded and runs his own business called Proper Good, consisting of a variety of ready-to-eat meals for people on the go (of which I certainly benefit from ha!) We own a condo downtown near the Capital building and fully take advantage of the Austin lifestyle, but our true passion is wakesurfing. Catch us everyday on Lake Austin doing (and I use that word liberally) 360s’ and surfing in 6 inch heels (no really, see my instagram for proof @lifeofstacie). In my free time I study ASL, train for triathlons, and foster kittens through Austin Pets Alive! There have been many near foster fails but knowing they are going to good homes is extremely fulfilling 🙂 🙂 Currently in search of our forever kitten. I look forward to speaking with you more and learning more about Voyage Austin Magazine!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Attempting something new is always scary and exciting, but certainly comes with many obstacles. For instance, becoming a yoga instructor and learning to lead a room full of people was totally out of my comfort zone. Sure I am a frequent goer of the studio but being the one in charge of the way people move their bodies and guiding them safely was a fun challenge. Much like my new soon-to-be transition from flight attendant to pilot. Talk about a challenge! The journey so far has consisted of many interviews, prepping for said interviews, study guides, and flight simulator lessons. the real effort starts when I begin in person training at the pilot training center, wish me luck! 😆

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a flight attendant and CorePower Yoga instructor, although I am currently enrolled in flight training to become a pilot! I am most proud of my tenacity and ability to persevere as there have been many challenges along the way for all mentioned above. Less than 7% of women in aviation are pilots and I think that’s what sets me apart as I try to bridge that gap and contribute a little female muscle in the flight deck! 💪🏼
