Conversations with Felipe García

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felipe García

Felipe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an artist and art mayor. I started in floral business in my early 20s back home in Laredo Tx. After moving to Austin Tx. I continued school and worked on and off in the flower and design field. After working on and off over 20 years helping other florist and designers, I decided to finally go solo under the name of Felipe the Florist, with the help of my husband almost 2 years ago.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say it has been smooth nor difficult. I would say it has been as its suppose to go and at the adequate time in my life. I would also say this is the results of a lot of hard work, dedication and urge to give my clients the wedding of their dreams, the years of experience working in the wedding floral industry has given me the advantage in my new business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am wedding floral designer with a new business in the Austin area. I specialize in wedding floral design, and other events. I like learning about my client’s vision and combining ideas. I am proud of my 20+ years of experience in creating all types of designs and styles, colors and textures.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I appreciate risks and challenges, it keeps me motivated to do what I do. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good comfortable work life but I feel like routine can be taxing on the mind and body vs. risk-taking keeps me inspired and motivated. Risks as a designer with new techniques. In my opinion, being an introvert male in a realm of strong women who own and operate their business was a risk for me, but maybe that is just my view 🙂
