Meet Christian Coffey of All over Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Coffey.

Christian Coffey

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Christian Coffey, an emcee and creative who turns every mic into an unforgettable experience. My journey started in silence as the University of Texas mascot, Hook’Em, where I learned to captivate crowds without a word. As a Theatre and Dance student at UT, I honed my stage presence and storytelling skills, which now fuel my work as an emcee.

With three years of experience at the NBA and collegiate levels, I’ve worked with UT Athletics, the Spurs, March Madness, SXSW, and more. Beyond the mic, I’m a rapper, poet, and storyteller, inspired by legends like Donald Glover and Andre 3000. Whether on stage or in the studio, my goal is simple—create moments that connect, energize, and leave a lasting impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges in my journey was learning how to perform at a consistently high level while navigating educational, personal, and emotional stressors. During my time as Hook’Em, I struggled with this balance. I started using the costume to mask my emotions, thinking I had to always be “on” no matter what I was going through. But over time, I realized that wasn’t healthy.

I’m grateful for that experience because Hook’Em taught me that there’s strength in vulnerability. It’s okay to have bad days—the crowd will understand. In fact, when you’re honest about what you’re feeling, you can build each other up and unite through a common love for the moment. That lesson has carried into my work as an emcee. I’ve learned that I don’t have to hide what I’m feeling to perform at a high level. If anything, embracing it makes my presence more real, relatable, and impactful—and that’s all I want to be.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an emcee, rapper, and storyteller who specializes in creating unforgettable moments. Whether it’s hyping up thousands at a game, hosting a corporate event, or performing music, I bring energy, authenticity, and a deep connection to the crowd. I’m known for making every experience feel personal and electric.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to make people feel like they’re part of something bigger. Whether it’s a packed arena or an intimate setting, I know how to bring people together and create a shared experience.

What sets me apart is my foundation in theatre, dance, and my time as Hook’Em. I don’t just hold a mic—I command a space, read the energy of a room, and adapt in real time. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable, to bring my full self to the moment, and that honesty resonates with people. My goal isn’t just to entertain—it’s to make people feel something real.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When it comes to networking, I always try to say hello and be kind to everyone I meet. You never know who could open a door for you, and more importantly, you never know whose day you might brighten just by being genuine. This career is very niche, so I make sure to use every opportunity to connect, especially at games and events where I’m surrounded by professionals from all areas of the industry.

I also make sure to use the networking tools I invested in, like my dot cards and armband, which link directly to my LinkedIn and Instagram. Having an easy way for people to find me makes a huge difference.

As for mentorship, I don’t have a mentor yet, but I’d like to change that. My biggest advice for someone looking for a mentor is to first put yourself in spaces where the people you admire are. Engage with their work, ask thoughtful questions, and show that you’re serious about growing. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to reach out—mentorship often starts with a simple conversation. Confidence and initiative go a long way.
