Rising Stars: Meet Victor Dinaire of Austin, St. Petersburg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Dinaire

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The start of my journey takes me way back to New York City in the early to mid 1990’s as a club promoter for super venues: Limelight, The Palladium, Club USA and The Tunnel. Little by little, my connection to music began to expand and around 1995, I discovered Trance music from Europe. At that point, everything changed for me and that’s when my desire to get into playing music took shape. In 1999, I began working for the dance music record label, Logic Records / BMG. Eventually, my path took me to radio and began mixing weekly shows on Sirius, XM, and Music Choice Cable TV. Recently, the drive to teach the art of DJing brought me to The Austin School Of Fashion where I partnered with Ilonka Soto Pelyvas to create DJ Future Stars, a place for music enthusiasts from any age to learn what it takes to be a cutting edge DJ

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are ebbs and flows to my path for sure. Consistency is key and always being plugged into the world of music is required but if you love it, this part will not feel like work (at least half of the time). You must always stay fresh and current as you can easily fade away into irrelevancy. There are always struggles and often times it can be draining but when you bring moments of joy to your listeners, it all becomes worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Music, programs and events have always played a major role in my professional life. Together with my long time studio partner Bissen, we founded the record labels “HalfwayHaus” as well as “Dinaire Force.” We’ve produced and remixed over 50 releases to date with several Billboard # 1 Dance hits. Our most celebrated remixes were for artists: P!NK, U2, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, M83, Snoop Dog.

My decades long mix-show, “Lost Episode” can be heard on Twitch.tv/djVictorDinaire every weekend along with my brand new weekly program launching soon titled “The Search” which will be a music focused show / podcast with a special new twist on how people get their music featuring special guests in and out of the music world.

In 2024, I co-founded “DJ Future Stars” with Ilonka Soto Pelyvas, our school that teaches youths and adults the art of DJing. We are getting prepared for our annual DJ summer camps June- August 2025. We also do 1 on 1 private lessons for anyone that wants to go deep into the training. – DJFutureStars.com is where you can get more info and sign up.

What I find to be the most valuable stand out factor is the willingness to stay dynamic and ready to adapt when things change. Also, being independent not only gives you freedom to move around fluidly and not be bound to someone else’s rules. Being in love with it must be in the mix too.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I wish I learned this many years ago: start small and learn one piece at a time. Try to not look at the big picture. Often times when I looked at a subject in it’s entirety, I became overwhelmed and mentally paralyzed. Conquer the small victories and build a strong foundation. Take breaks when you feel you need to.

Also, focus on what you love and try to be a master at it. Try to add your own signature to your world. It’s ok to be yourself and stop comparing your progress with other people. We all have different paths to navigate. Everyone will reach their goals at different times and methods.

Just as important: take good care of yourself. Eat right, be active and be nice to yourself.
