Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I had a keen eye for creativity, a deep appreciation for organization, and an innate ability to bring aesthetics together harmoniously. Interior spaces always fascinated me—their power to evoke emotion and engage the senses captivated my imagination.
I pursued my passion by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design in Washington State. My career began in Chicago and Portland, where I gained invaluable experience as a junior designer. Eventually, I transitioned into freelance work, taking on my own projects. Today, I specialize in high-end residential designs and spec homes, collaborating closely with builders to craft exceptional living spaces.
Even now, I remain deeply intrigued by the profound impact a space can have on a person—how it shapes emotions, influences mood, and dictates energy. The interplay between design and human experience continues to fuel my creativity and passion for the field.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path has been anything but easy—freelancing and building a business come with a level of uncertainty that not everyone is willing to embrace. Yet, the rewards—the freedom, flexibility, and sense of ownership—are unparalleled compared to traditional employment. Finding my footing took time; understanding where to focus my energy wasn’t always straightforward. Hard work has never intimidated me, but directing that effort toward something truly fruitful can be a challenge.
When I embarked on the journey of starting my own company, it took time to find my voice and confidence—to stand out and say, “I’m good at this, and my perspective is worth sharing.” But through that process, I discovered something invaluable: the beauty of growth. Looking back now, I see how far I’ve come, and that realization is both humbling and deeply inspiring.

Valentine Interiors is a full-service interior design firm dedicated to creating authentic, intentional spaces that are both functional and luxurious—no matter the budget. While my primary focus has been residential design, I’m excited to expand into boutique commercial projects through freelance and future collaborations.
What sets me apart is my unique approach to blending unexpected materials and sourcing one-of-a-kind fixtures, resulting in spaces that feel distinctive and thoughtfully curated. Above all, I value honest design and clear communication. My goal is to ensure every space truly feels like home to my clients, and I’m committed to finding the perfect design to bring that vision to life.
