Daily Inspiration: Meet Jorge Dozal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Dozal

Hi Jorge, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Right before graduating college I went to my first rave festival, Freaky Deaky 2021. After that, I was addicted to the scene and knew I wanted to give people the same feeling I experienced. Luckily I had some friends in the local San Marcos scene who put on music events and I immediately wanted to jump on board when I found this new love for music. Pretty quickly too I purchased my first decks, the XDJ-XZ and have been hosting and playing shows ever since in early 2022.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Along the addiction to raving, I found myself exhausting my brain and time on things and people who ended up not being the best people. However, I power through as I learn boundaries for myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in experimental bass, or dubstep, as that’s what I produce and love to mix. I’m mostly known for my event curating in my music professional world, but as an artist, I go by the name Unspoken and blend multiple genres along with experimental bass such as house, trap, etc in my live sets keeping people on their feet.

What makes you happy?
Family, music, friends, and the spread of love. I come from a big family, but also grew up intimately with only my dad and nephew, so I cherish all moments with them and was told family matters the most. Music has always been in my life from playing band and being in the choir, to singing karaoke with my dad, and now my profession. Friends have kept me sane, be there when I needed them most and obviously connect in an also family type of way as most of my immediate family doesn’t live near me. Love is more powerful than hate, but the world needs more love.
