Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinie Beatty
Hi Destinie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved making content, even if it was sharing a recipe, sharing my DITL, or showing off my favorite new shoes. But when I became a mom I really got lost in PPD and PPA and I lost my spark. It too over 2 years for me to get it back to my normal self after having my first. After I had my second baby I knew I needed to make sure I had something that was mine, such as a hobby or interest so I wasn’t so engulfed in postpartum. I started focusing more on making content and building a community on TikTok. It really helped me get my pink back after having my second baby. Building a community of women and mostly moms online has given me the confidence to tap back into my creative mindset. I think being transparent and silly online makes other women and moms feel like they can relate to me. I try to not be perfect and aesthetic, but focus more on the reality of being a mom. I also love to have fun with the mundane day to day tasks such as cleaning the house after my kids are in bed. I found that when I make it fun, I enjoy it more. So when I showed the people on the internet that you can crack a beer, throw on some music and dance while you clean it makes life that much more fun! I love to show that life is not that serious. I really hope I spread joy to at least a few people. After I started to gain some traction, I was scouted by a social media talent agency where I signed on with them and now I have a manager and a team who supports me and helps me find brand deals! It is truly a dream come true to have such a supportive community and now have the opportunity to pay off my student loans and credit card debt so that I can live more financially free with my children because being a one income household can be daunting on many families, such as ours. I’m so grateful for social media and the opportunities it has brought me!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It honestly was a very slow but smooth road for me. I’ve been posting content for years and I just finally started to feel successful. I have an amazing community on TikTok, a social media manager and brands that want to work with me! It does take time though, so consistency is key
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud to be a mom. It is the best job I could ever ask for. Being able to stay home with them everyday is such a blessing that I will never take for granted. Before becoming a mom I was a 4th grade teacher, which gave me the knowledge and confidence to homeschool my children! I also am a certified yoga instructor that specializes in heated yoga (Baptist Yoga). I would say on TikTok I am most known for shotgunning a beer and then doing my “SAHM closing shift”. I was at a point in my life not that long ago where I was so depressed with doing the same thing everyday (cleaning, cooking, taking care of kids and not myself) and I mainly just want to show other moms that being a mom and doing the mundane work can be fun! So crack a drink, turn on some 90’s throw backs and shake your butt while cleaning your house!
