Exploring Life & Business with Cinthia And Alondra Solis of Cuídate LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinthia And Alondra Solis

Hi Cinthia and Alondra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We moved from Illinois to Texas four years ago and established Cuídate in November 2022. We started Cuídate in honor of our grandma, who passed away in October 2021. She would always end her phone calls with “cuídate,” which inspired us to spread awareness about the importance of self-care, self-appreciation, and self-worth.

We wanted our crewnecks to symbolize a big hug from someone who is far away or who has passed. Currently, we plan to continue creating more crewneck designs and giving back to our community. We are giving 50% of all profits from our “Para Mí Gente” sales to the National Immigrant Justice Center and hope to increase that contribution in the future. We are also in the process of launching a new item that we have been working very hard on!

We always knew we would achieve great things, but when we arrived in Austin, we were completely blown away by the incredible support and sense of community we found here.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Currently, it can be stated that our journey has been extremely positive, despite facing various challenges. We have successfully navigated these obstacles while pursuing our passions. As a first-generation business venture, we encountered the need to independently learn and adapt, as we did not have mentors or family members with entrepreneurial experience in our immediate circle. This unfamiliarity with the business world presented some challenges, but we recognize that these struggles are an integral part of our overall progress. Each day brings new lessons and insights that contribute to our growth and success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Cuídate means “take care” in Spanish. This small business was established by two first-generation Mexican sisters in Austin, TX. We sell crewnecks that emphasize the importance of self-care, self-worth, and self-appreciation. Cuídate was founded with the hope of giving back to those in need. We aim to be a representation and voice for our community. We are filled with gratitude and are dedicated to honoring our culture.

Currently, we are donating 50% of all profits from our “Para Mi Gente” crewneck to the National Immigrant Justice Center. We want to support those who are hurting and hope we can achieve this through your support.

Cuida a tu gente.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The most surprising fact about our brand that many people may not know is that we are not originally from Texas. We were actually born and raised in Illinois. We decided to move to Austin because our small town in southern Illinois no longer had the space for us to grow within our culture and pursue our aspirations. While we love Chicago, we eventually grew weary of the snow and cold weather.
