Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Mac.
Hi Charlie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been a storyteller at heart whether through laughter, presence, or truth that cuts deeper than expected. I came up from the ground floor, turning every setback into fuel for something greater. For me, comedy and creativity weren’t just passions, they were survival tools that eventually became a platform.
Over time, I realized my voice didn’t just entertain, it moved energy, opened minds, and made people feel seen. I didn’t follow a blueprint,I built my own. Now, I use every skill, every scar, and every stage to help others forget their own wounds, even if just for a moment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road and honestly, I wouldn’t trust one that was. The journey’s been full of detours, delays, and straight-up brick walls. I’ve faced self-doubt, financial strain, people who didn’t believe, and moments where I almost didn’t believe either. I’ve had to unlearn survival mode, heal in real-time, and create opportunities where none existed. Every setback tested if I was serious about this path and every time, I chose to keep going. The scars gave me perspective, the pressure gave me power, and the struggle shaped the voice I have today.
One of my biggest struggles was with my weight. It took a toll not just physically, but mentally. I ended up going to therapy and eventually worked with a hypnotist who changed everything, HypnoGoddess, a powerful hypnotists that frequently visits Austin. With her help, I broke through the patterns that were holding me back. I went vegan, stayed consistent, and lost over 160 pounds.
That journey taught me that transformation doesn’t start in the body, it starts in the mind. And I bring that lesson with me into every performance, every moment, every message.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a storyteller and performer who uses humor, honesty, and presence to connect with people on a real level. I specialize in stand-up comedy, writing, and creating moments that feel both hilarious and human. I’m known for blending sharp wit with real-life experience making people laugh while also making them think.
What I’m most proud of is staying true to my voice. I didn’t water myself down to fit in. I built a lane where I could show up fully as I am and it’s resonated. What sets me apart is my ability to be both raw and intentional. I don’t just entertain I shift the room. Whether it’s one mic, one joke, or one story at a time, I bring something real to every stage.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Austin is the energy. it’s creative, bold, and unapologetically weird in the best way. The city has a way of encouraging you to show up as your full self, and there’s always something happening, live music, comedy shows, festivals it’s a place where art and individuality thrive. The food scene doesn’t miss either.
What I like least? The cost of living keeps climbing like it’s got a personal grudge. And traffic? It’s like a test of patience that nobody signed up for. But even with the growing pains, Austin still has a soul that keeps you coming back.
