Daily Inspiration: Meet Carly Olinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Olinger.

Hi Carly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Wow! Where I started….

The 17-year-old me dropped out of high school and enrolled in beauty school the next week. At the time, this did not seem like the best decision for me, but it turns out that if you’re determined, nothing can stop you from achieving great things!

I started at my first salon 17 years ago. I lived in Denver then, and the salon I worked for owned a non-toxic nail salon (wild idea) at the time. So I worked doing nails and waiting tables 7 days a week! I slowly grew my clientele and my footing behind the chair. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible stylists and be part of fashion weeks, music videos, concerts, etc. This career has given me so much. I could never list it all here.

If I remember right, I moved to Austin in 2015 and was lucky enough to fall into the right hands. Booth rental was always my style. Straight out of school, I did that, and I never knew anything different. So again, I started networking, meeting people, and bartending. I always kept a second service industry job until I opened my salon in 2018!

As you know, we know Salon Wyld, located in central Austin, where Clean Beauty Meets Magic ✨

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a small business is never a smooth road. There small daily complications and then there are HUGE catastrophic issues that’s arise every once in awhile truly testing you. Its always worth it though. You always come out a little stronger or more informed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I personally specialize in hair loss and extensions. I’m certified in many different methods that can work for all different hair types and concerns. I’m also your go to Clean Beauty skim and makeup bestie. I co-own a clean beauty company that house over 70 clean beauty brands called Wren and Wild. Check us out! Www.wrenandwild.com

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I like to keep a business coach around someone to call and check in with. Helps keep me accountable.
