Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Stewart.
Hi Tori, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Like many artists, my journey began as soon as I could hold a pencil. I was fortunate to have a grandfather who was not only a gifted artist but also one of my greatest inspirations. He introduced me to the joy of creating and encouraged me to believe in a future in the arts, no matter how far-fetched it might have seemed. That passion carried me through school and eventually led to earning my BFA in Painting and Art Education from Texas Tech University. Since then, I’ve shared my work through murals, commissions, and art markets, each experience deepening my connection to the community. For me, art is a way to foster genuine growth and acceptance between people—a reminder that none of us are alone in our experiences. We’re all just doing our best to exist with what we have, and I hope my work can create space for connection, understanding, and a little more compassion. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to keep chasing that dream and growing within it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been far from a smooth road—filled with highs and lows. I’m incredibly grateful for the supportive community around me that continues to encourage me to pursue what I love. One of the biggest challenges has been figuring out where to direct my energy. Being a creative is such a personal and nonlinear journey—there’s no clear roadmap, especially when it comes to marketing yourself or even knowing what paths exist to help move your work forward.
The creative world is so broad, which can make it difficult to find your people—both your audience and fellow artists who resonate with your work and values. On top of that, time management has been a constant balancing act. Knowing when to create, when to promote, when to network, when to rest, and when to focus on the business side—it’s a lot to juggle. Staying grounded in your vision while wearing all those hats isn’t easy, but it’s all part of the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create under my business, Curatori Compositions, as a visual artist specializing in painting and murals, while also exploring mediums like printmaking, charcoal, and pastels. My work is known for abstract, color-driven environments that explore self-image and the complexity of individualism through expressive lines and vivid palettes. I often collaborate with local organizations—whether by creating murals, displaying work, teaching art classes, or supporting their marketing efforts—to build connection and uplift my community. At the heart of my practice is a deep interest in people; I aim to create spaces for vulnerability and introspection, helping others feel seen and understood. What makes me proud is not just my growth as an artist, but the safe, expressive space I’ve cultivated for others along the way.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that patience and consistency are essential. Chasing big dreams comes with inevitable growing pains—you’ll face setbacks and discomfort, but that’s proof you’re evolving. Many people have transformed their dreams into reality; you are no different. If you keep pushing forward, you’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of. Always lead with kindness—both toward others and yourself. Everyone is carrying their own struggles, and we’re all figuring it out as we go. You deserve compassion and space to grow because your voice matters. Perfection is an illusion, and your power often lives in the very imperfections you fear. Don’t let them hold you back. It’s better to create, make mistakes, and improve than to never try at all. The real beauty lies in the growth that happens between those moments.
