Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefano Chaves.

Hi Stefano, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
SMC Media started the same way a lot of great ideas do: out of necessity. I was helping creatives, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in my circle with their brand presence, content, and digital visibility. I saw a gap in the market: there were too many agencies either charging absurd amounts or delivering surface-level work that didn’t actually move the needle. So I built something different.

We started small: just me, a few tools, and a handful of clients who trusted the vision. But we were strategic from the start. We weren’t just posting pretty pictures. We were studying data, building systems, finding voice and identity, and executing with intention. That’s what helped us grow fast and with purpose. Now, we’re a boutique agency operating at a high level while still staying real, selective, and incredibly close to our clients’ brands.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not smooth, but I don’t think smooth ever builds anything worth keeping.

In the beginning, I wore every single hat: strategist, creative director, videographer, editor, client manager, even accountant. Balancing that with being a full-time student and realtor was a grind. There were weeks I was filming at 8am, in class by noon, and writing contracts by night.

Scaling the team while protecting the quality of our work was also hard. I didn’t want to grow fast and lose control, so we had to be intentional with hiring, training, and building systems that kept things airtight. It’s still a learning process, but every challenge pushed us to tighten up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SMC Media?
SMC Media is a creative strategy and content agency built for creators, small businesses, and professionals who want high-performance brand presence without the fluff or filler. We specialize in strategic content creation, full-service social media management, brand development, digital storytelling, and platform growth. Our whole philosophy is “where creativity meets strategy.”

A lot of agencies either overdo the analytics or overdo the aesthetic. We sit right at the intersection of both, and I’m really proud of that.

What are your plans for the future?
We’re scaling: not just in size, but in depth. Over the next year, we’re building out more internal systems, launching seasonal campaigns, expanding our creative production capabilities, and starting a few in-person activations and speaker events under our own name.

Eventually, we’ll open up a full creative studio space and possibly explore strategic partnerships with other agencies or media groups. But for now, it’s about growing smart, keeping our client experience world-class, and continuing to turn out work we’re proud of.
