Today we’d like to introduce you to Miggs .
Miggs, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hey y’all! I’m Miggs—short for Miguel—but when it comes to my music, I go by MIGGS. I’m a Country Artist, and I am all about sharing music that stays true to my roots.
My love for music sparked under the city lights of Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World. That passion stuck with me through my 12 years in the United States Air Force, which allowed me to play in some amazing places around the globe. Now, I’ve settled in Pasadena, Maryland, where I write and record songs about family, friends, and the good times we all love. Music has always been a part of who I am.
Back in high school, a mix-up landed me in choir instead of calculus. Before I knew it, I was singing solos with the All-State Men’s 5A Choir and performing in musicals and plays. I picked up the trumpet in middle school and was gifted my first guitar at 15, diving headfirst into music.
Over the years, I grew as an artist playing with various bands, church groups, and worship teams. Even after joining the Air Force in 2012, I kept the music alive, performing everywhere I could—from morale events during deployments in Afghanistan to festivals in Germany and Portugal.
In 2024, my wife Courtney Rangel (“Coco”) challenged me to take my music to the next step and record in Nashville. Funny thing is, not but a week later was I talking with my co-worker Nick Thomas about music after seeing a promotion for my band playing at a local festival. He introduced me to Ben Reno and weeks later, my wife and I took the trip to Majestic Ape Studios in Nashville, TN where I recorded my first three tracks. I was so impressed with the tracks, the feedback, support, and encouragement that we traveled again in October to record four more songs, which are to be released in 2025.
During my second time down. I was invited by Nashbash Collective and made my Nashville debut at Alley Taps where I had the opportunity to play with some talented artists. As well, Majestic Ape Studios put on a writers round where I played with two incredible artists, Lauren Reno and Jakota Wass.
2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year. My first single, “Never Far Away,” dropped on January 15, with more tracks to come following through May. With my website launch and exciting shows lined up, this year builds on 2024’s momentum.
Through it all, I’m blessed to pursue my dream of music while growing a family with my wife, our daughter, two dogs, and a baby boy on the way. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of my family, friends, and fans. It’s been one hell of a ride and I can’t wait for what’s next.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes the journey worthwhile. Music is one of those careers where there’s no set path—you have to carve it out yourself, and that comes with a lot of challenges. Balancing my passion for songwriting and performing with the business side of things, like booking gigs, promoting myself, and handling production, has been a learning process.
There have been times when I’ve played to small crowds and I have been the background music. I have dealt with cancellations, or had to navigate the ups and downs of the being a musician. On top of that, transitioning from my time in the Air Force to civilian life- whilst building a family and chasing music has been a big shift.
One of the biggest struggles, and something I continue to work through with my wife and family, is the recent loss of my first born son. Loosing our son only 6 days after being born, has been so hard and difficult to navigate. However, the prayers, support and constant encouragement from family, friends and the community, continues to give my wife and family strength. And as I continue with playing music, writing, and entertaining, I hope that my continued joy and steadfast faith in God puts my in a place to encourage others in dark times. There is no timeline in grief, no playbook. You take it day by day, live each moment and put one foot in front of the other. Every struggle has made me more determined. The key has been staying focused, surrounding myself with good people, and remembering why I started—because I love creating and entertaining people through music.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Texas-raised, Nashville-recording country artist who’s all about telling real stories through music. I blend modern country with Southern rock, adding grit and energy to every song I write and every show I play. Whether it’s a heartfelt ballad or a rowdy anthem, I aim to make music that connects—honest, relatable, and built from real life.
I specialize in high-energy live performances, songwriting with substance, and building a brand that’s as authentic off-stage as it is on. I’ve had the honor of serving 12 years in the U.S. Air Force, and that experience shaped not only my discipline but also my perspective. I’m proud of how far I’ve come as an independent artist—growing a fanbase, playing shows across the country, and releasing music that means something.
What sets me apart is my persistence and purpose. I handle every part of this career—from writing and recording to booking, promoting, and performing. I’m not afraid to take the long road if it means building something real. I’m most proud of staying true to who I am, while constantly pushing forward. For me, success isn’t just about charts or streams—it’s about impact, longevity, and showing people that you can chase a dream with heart and hustle.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
As an independent country artist, I’ve built my brand through a combination of music, live performance, and a strong digital presence. My songs blend modern country with a Southern rock edge—rooted in storytelling and real-life experience. I’m passionate about creating music that connects with people on a deeper level, whether it’s through a rowdy anthem or a heartfelt ballad.
Beyond the music itself, I actively grow my presence on social media, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, performance clips, and original content to engage with fans in a real and relatable way. Every live show is an opportunity to connect in person and build a loyal fanbase. I’m currently performing regionally but have my sights set on major festivals and national stages in the near future. I’m also excited to collaborate with other artists and musicians who share the same drive and authenticity—because I believe that real growth happens through community and creative exchange.
Looking ahead, I think the music industry will continue to shift toward a more artist-driven model. Short-form video is already transforming how fans discover music, and platforms like TikTok and Instagram are playing a huge role in shaping an artist’s reach. I see artists leaning more into direct-to-fan relationships—through merch, exclusive content, and personalized experiences—which gives us more control and creative freedom.
Genre lines are also continuing to blur. Country music is evolving, expanding its audience, and embracing new sounds and influences. I think that openness will only grow in the next 5–10 years, and I’m excited to be a part of that movement while staying true to my roots.
At the end of the day, what sets me apart is the mix of authenticity, work ethic, and vision. I’ve built my career from the ground up, staying persistent through every challenge and focused on long-term impact. I’m not just chasing trends—I’m building something real, and I’m proud of every step forward.
