An Inspired Chat with Paula Akujor of Austin

We recently had the chance to connect with Paula Akujor and have shared our conversation below.

Paula, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I’ve been finding great joy in learning how to cook my Nigerian traditional dishes. Every month, I set a goal to prepare one new dish or snack, sharing the ingredients and process along the way.
Lately, I’ve been having so much fun experimenting in the kitchen and discovering new techniques and flavors, which has made this journey both exciting and fulfilling.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Paula Akujor, a certified life coach, author of Hope Restored Weekly Devotional, and founder of Agape Life Coaching, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering individuals through transformative coaching experiences.

At Agape Life Coaching, we specialize in faith-based guidance, purpose fulfillment, and relationship coaching. We’re also in the process of expanding our services to include personal styling and life coach certification course.
In addition to our core services, we proudly offer complimentary coaching sessions to underserved communities and distribute free meals and care packages, providing both emotional and physical nourishment to those in need.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Rededicating my life to Christ was a pivotal moment that reshaped how I view the world. Each of us is on a journey, navigating trials and triumphs, setbacks and celebrations. As we seek meaning and direction. Along the way, I’ve come to understand that our true purpose isn’t found in conforming to the world’s standards, but in living a life that honors and pleases the Lord.
Romans 12:2 (NIV) reminds us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Walking in the light of Christ has empowered me to resist the darkness around me and to live with purpose, integrity, and hope.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me resilience and inner strength in ways success never could, as it has shown me the importance of perseverance through life’s hardships. Each time I face setbacks and choose to get back up, I grow stronger and more resilient, understanding that challenges are opportunities for growth. I remind myself that just like diamonds are forged under immense pressure to reveal their true beauty, my struggles are shaping me into a more resilient and compassionate person, teaching me that enduring pain can lead to profound personal transformation.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say that impacting lives is what truly matters to me. I am passionate about creating events, services, or products that can make a meaningful difference in my community. I pay close attention to where people are struggling—whether mentally, spiritually, or emotionally—and work to develop solutions or blueprints that can help lift them out of difficult situations. No matter how challenging the journey, I remain committed because I believe that everyone deserves a breakthrough, and by helping others, I am contributing to a ripple effect of positive change.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I can give my best in everything I do, even if no one ever praises me for it, because I find my worth and validation in my relationship with God. I don’t seek the applause of the world, knowing that my Heavenly Father is already proud of me and the work I’ve done. My purpose is rooted in serving and pleasing Him, not seeking external recognition. While praise from others can be uplifting, it doesn’t define me. My approval, acceptance, and strength come through Christ, who empowers me to persevere and excel regardless of worldly acknowledgment.
