Alex Mounir shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Alex, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
More than ever, I’m being called to fully surrender my career to God. This looks like trusting Him to open doors, and seeking to bring glory to Him instead of myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely. I’m an actor, I work mainly on screen— doing commercials and films. It makes it really interesting because you don’t see a-lot of Jesus lovers in this business.. so bringing that to every job is exhilarating.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Geeeez. This one’s bad… I remember I was a teen and I booked a gig for Balmain. I flew out of LA and the job was super lowkey.. but after it came out I remember the response of people was insane. I was getting so many texts and calls and even job offers- it was WILD.
I say it’s bad because this was before I accepted Jesus into my life and I was totally worshipping myself.. and this did NOT help. But it’s a great lesson to look back at.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh my gosh, yeah. I remember calling my commercial agents after my hundredth and something audition. This was a while back and I remember my agent telling me to take more commercial classes. It payed off! My booking ratio doubled after that phone call..
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
100% I hope so. Instagram and media wise… I’m not sure about that. That’s another reason why I deleted instagram— I felt like rebranding was silly. I figured I don’t need it.. and don’t really like it so I got rid of it. But when you say public, if you’re referring to events then absolutely.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Wow these questions are brilliant… I would be so proud if people remembered me as the person who shared the love of Jesus with everything in my heart. God forbid people say I’m a great actor… that would be so disappointing. I’d have definitely failed my mission if that’s what’s left to talk about my life.
