We recently had the chance to connect with Amir Mehmeti and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amir, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are all about starting clean—literally and mentally. I wake up, hit the bathroom to brush my teeth, and get myself ready while the world’s still quiet. No breakfast yet—gotta get that fresh feeling first. Then I dive into planning or prepping for the day, making sure I know which cars I’m tackling or what the schedule looks like. If there’s time, a quick stretch or walk gets the blood moving. By the time I step outside, I’m alert, focused, and ready to make every car shine.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amir, and I run Luno Mobile Detailing here in Cedar Park and the surrounding Austin area. What makes Luno unique is that we bring the detail shop straight to you—whether you’re at home or at work—so keeping your car spotless fits seamlessly into your day. I started this brand because I’ve always believed a clean car isn’t just about looks, it’s about feeling good every time you get behind the wheel. At Luno, we focus on the details that others overlook, from deep steam cleaning to meticulous stain removal, and we take pride in treating every vehicle like it’s our own. Right now, I’m working on growing the business, connecting with more people in the community, and making sure every customer sees the difference when they book with us.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was the first time I earned something completely on my own. I remember saving up for something small but meaningful, and the moment I finally got it, it hit me—I didn’t have to wait on anyone else. That feeling of independence, of knowing I could create results through my own effort, stuck with me. It gave me confidence that I could take on bigger challenges later in life, whether that was work, getting fit, or eventually building my own brand.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: trust the process and don’t rush it. All the challenges and setbacks that feel heavy in the moment are actually shaping you for something bigger. Stay patient, keep working, and believe that your effort will pay off—you’re capable of way more than you think.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart people today get it wrong by overcomplicating things. They’re always chasing the next hack, shortcut, or big idea, when in reality, consistency and execution usually beat complexity. In business and in life, it’s often the simple habits—showing up every day, paying attention to details, treating people right—that create the biggest results. Sometimes being “too smart” makes people overlook the basics that actually matter.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’d say I’m doing what I was born to do. Nobody told me to start a detailing business—it came from me realizing I had a passion for transforming cars and the drive to turn that into something bigger. Of course, people along the way have shared advice and opinions, but at the end of the day, building Luno came from following my own path, not someone else’s script.
